Men in White Suits: Liverpool FC in the 1990s - The Players' Stories
by Simon Hughes
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £15.90

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential buy, 19 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Unputdownable read for any Red who endured the torment of the 90s, littered with great anecdotes from less obvious players of the time (Jason McAteer belies his wrongful reputation as just a dressing room dimbo, with some especially articulate insights) plus interviews with managers Evans and Souness, whose contributions are brutally honest, as well as being surprisingly poignant and lacking in self pity. Essential buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars peerless, 1 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Came to this series late and missed it while being periodically broadcast on UK TV. But after buying the first three series' in a boxed set DVD a fortnight ago, been hooked ever since. Gobbled them up faster than a crystal meth addict and immediately ordered up to the fifth season finale. Finished the last two episodes at 11am today, Sunday. Going cold turkey already. Arguably the best ever crime thriller series, keeping up the momentum right to the very end. Peerless in every artistic category, and that includes the use of the ironic soundtrack, especially Windy by The Association, The Peddlars' version of On a Clear Day and onwards to Badfinger's Baby Blue. Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars ace debut, 1 Dec. 2013
This review is from: The Temperance Movement (Audio CD)
Heard final track Serenity cranked up over the sound system in HMV two months ago and it made the hairs on the back of the neck stand up on end. Bought the album on the spot and the rest of it didn't disappoint. Comparison to a reconditioned Black Crowes, by the way, is lazy criticism for what is a stunning debut.

1.0 out of 5 stars outraged, 27 Sept. 2013
This review is from: The Wrong Road [DVD] (DVD)
So outraged by the ending that a beer can nearly went through the widescreen. Short on shocks, long on horror cliche, the "to be continued' message mentioned by others added insult to injury. Furious at spending not just 90 minutes watching but the DVD money too. If I'd been at the cinema I'd be asking for a cost of admission refund - but then, of course, I suspect something this bad didn't get a general release in the first place.
