Cheap alternative to an expensive Sonos system, 1 Jun 2013
Amazing little device. I was looking to set up a wireless sound system at home but I didn't want to fork out hundreds for a wireless Sonos system, especially as I had a decent surround sound system hooked onto my DVD player. To create a wireless system like Sonos, all I did was plug this device into the AUX input of my surround sound speakers (or home PC speakers). Then I activated home shared on my ipad and old iphone. This is an inbuilt function in itunes and all you need is to activate it in "settings" on you mobile device and in the "library" section on itunes.
Now when you go to "music" on your idevice you can selected shared song and it will automatically connect with your itunes, which needs to be running on your PC. You can now play any song from your library on your device but stream it straight to this bluetooth adapter to play through external speakers. If you have an old iphone or itouch device, like I do, you can use it as a permanent music remote.
If you install Spotify on it too, you will more or less has created the Sonos experience for £30 plus using equipment you already had at home.
One last point on the range. I found the range to be pretty good. I was impressed that the signal could be received down stairs in my living room while I was upstairs in the bedroom.
