4.0 out of 5 stars A great movie, although not brilliant., 7 Aug 2010
There is one big problem with this movie. The pacing and the ending. There are two big problems with this movie. The pacing and the ending. Well to be fair the pacing isn't that bad, at times your shouting at the film because the people in it are not trying hard enough to do whatever it is their doing (no spoilers here). Plus the acting from Ricci is ultra fantastic, she really can act wearing just a something (still no spoilers....good).

Of course then there's the ending. I think it should have reached that point about half way through the movie. Then the story could have carried on with a more complete ending that could have resolved the one major question everyone must have after watching this movie.

Apart from that, the acting is good and as it stands the movie does well on the "thinking about it afterwards" scale (which is a scale measured in rope!).

Here's hoping for an alternative ending and hours of extras about how Miss Ricci managed to prepare herself for the role. What was she thinking about. What's here favourite food and so on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Me and the monitor didn't get on., 21 April 2010
After using it on my PC I turned the Xbox360 on. There, on the screen, was 1080p XBOX with the after image of the PC on. Start bar, Desktop icons........Not for me.

Well I'm on the third script and become very very rich.

Really? It's a good book with lots of ideas that are very good. But I'm not rich. Yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's supposed to be in 3D, 19 April 2010
This review is from: Avatar (DVD + Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)
Lets face it. You could spend a load of cash on the 2D version of the film. But the director himself suggests the only way to see the film is in 3D. So do you buy it now and then again later? No.

As far as the plot goes the film does OK until telling us how the film ends halfway through, when Sigorney Weaver buys the farm whilst trying to meld into the big tree thing.

The 3D aspect was also OK but Hollywood can't do 3D properly. The problem is in some 3D shots they force a blurred focus on the background, as per 2D, which prevents you looking around the 3D world. A bit rubbish really as it probably cost more to make it look blurred than not. Still Life goes on and so does Avatar in the form of 2 more movies.

Well we can only hope they get it right next time.

(21/04/10) Looks like he's now re-releasing it at the cinema (in 3D) with more footage......so there's at least 2 more versions out there (one in 3D and the othe in 3D and six minutes longer)

5.0 out of 5 stars The good old days......., 8 April 2006
Back in the good old days of Dr Who, stories where set on distant planets far away in the imagination (unlike the current TV series which is set on or around Earth). Although there where actually, mostly, in a quarry in Devon !
Like the other reviews say "It's a classic" and wipes the floor with the current series efforts. Unlike the most series no season boxset...but one day, maybe !?

5.0 out of 5 stars But wait....theres a 14 DVD version coming out, 25 Feb 2006
If you have ever looked up some information on Superman 1 and 2 then you will have stumbled across a movement of people trying to get an alternate version of Superman 2. A version that lay on the cutting room floor. For along time it simply didn't exist....but after some fans around the world re-cut a version they had, recorded from TV and running about 30 mins longer than the version on DVD, it seems Warner Brothers finally figured out a way of making extra money.
A 14 DVD boxset !!
It is supposed to have 3 versions of Superman 1, one running for 3 hours, and 3 versions of Superman 2...and one of those versions is using unused footage that lay in the vault of a film studio somewhere.
It will also have Superman 3 & 4 and Supergirl.
Might be worth hanging on.....it should be around the same time as the new movie !!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bonus features, 26 Sep 2005
The bonus features are great....
However the new mix (Stereo on a normal CD player) is not as good as the original. It may sound better in 5.1... but the standard version done back in the day is completely different and sounds loads better than this remastered one.
If you never heard the album then it probably wouldn't matter....
But if you like the original and already own it....and unless you can play the 5.1 SACD, i wouldn't bother....

5.0 out of 5 stars Well for this price !!!!, 15 July 2005
Die Hard 3 is a great film...... This 2 disc edition isn't bad....made even better by the price....
They only down side is that the UK release is cut and censored, which stands out like a sore thumb when its coming through your 5.1 dolby digital system. You can hear that they have re-recorded alternative word for all the swearing that actually takes place.
The solution is to buy the region 1 edition of this package. The price isn't too bad and the feature is uncensored and so sounds even better. The way it was meant to be!!!!
