4.0 out of 5 stars Good item, fair price, 20 Jun. 2013
The buckle works well and looks good, but features a matte sanded finish that probably won't be immaculate for too long. The canvas material is not the best I've seen but it's not flimsy by any means. Overall a solid purchase.
Note that the buckle is not quite as dark as it appears in product shots at the time of writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, great price., 10 Jan. 2013
I'm increasingly fond of this company: well sorted products with solid build quality and great customer support, providing a very balanced experience. You really get the feeling that they make an extra effort.

I use a One For All URC7960 in the living room and it's an excellent device, more than two years without having to recharge its batteries. Now I purchased this one for the bedroom, and while not being a do-all powerhouse, it's still remarkably flexible.

There's one important thing to note:
Out of the box, each of the three modes can only be assigned a specific set of codes. You can not assign a TV code to the DVD mode, for example. But you can reassign modes, i.e. the DVD mode can be set to work as TV mode. So in practice, you can make this device control 3 TV's, 3 SAT's or 3 DVD's, or shuffle the modes around as you like. While being limited to a total of 3, you're not limited to a type of device for each mode. I used this feature to assign a "SAT" code to the "DVD" mode.

For little more money, other models might better fit your needs with more functionalities like direct copy (learning from other remotes) or the ability to control more devices. Be aware that this is a sort of "mid-range" model but very honest and capable for the price, updated with codes for very recent devices, well worth the buy.

Also, even if you need to replace remotes for old or "exotic" devices, customer support will provide special codes for this, and I can attest that they promptly reply to enquiries made via the company's website.

All in all, a sound investment. Fully satisfied - again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, probably the best around, 7 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First and foremost, this is a high quality product. Very well made indeed. Resistant and very consistent, has a great feel when swiping (no added friction) and doesn't impair screen visibility in any way. You only get one in the package but that's all you need: you can peel it off many times until you get it just right, without compromising the final result. Follow the instructions and it's easy to lay it down perfectly.

Having said that, there are only two things to point out:

1- The film is a bit thick and stiff, and this is a good thing, but depending on your use (or protective case if you use one) it may repeatedly peel off a bit at the edges or corners. You can just press it down again without getting bubbles but this becomes annoying. I mostly blame this on the case I was using: the front "lip" around the phone pressed against the film's edge.

2- The top of the protector has that "U" cut for the speaker and sensors, so it leaves a bit of the top exposed and doesn't look so seamless. Kind of reminds you that it's there all the time. Apart from this, it's a tight fit all around, edge to edge.
Keep in mind that other protectors might not have this "design flaw" but on the other hand, they might also last you no more than a couple of weeks, so...

If none of this bothers you and you don't want to shop around until you get a decent protector, buy this one with confidence. It's a keeper.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible. This is actually a downgrade., 11 Jan. 2012
I own the previous incarnations of the WD TV (the original black and the grey "live") and they work flawlessly. Marvelous pieces of kit.
This new model, however, hardly works at all. Bought it for another room since it has wifi built in, but it can't connect to any networked share, only media servers - and can't load subtitles from media servers. The wired connection is no better. Needless to say, if you network storage does not feature DLNA, it will be utterly invisible to the WDTV. It even has a hard time recognizing a directly connected Western Digital MyPassport USB drive. The irony is not lost on you, i'm sure. Sometimes it "sees" the files, sometimes it doesn't. Hours of fiddling around and i could hardly get a movie file to the screen, whatever the intended source, USB or network.
After a few nights digging around forums, i returned the unit. That's when it really made me happy.

EDIT: a few days after returning the unit, I noticed that on the retailer's local store (FNAC) this product now features a prominent sticker, stating the following: "FNAC no longer accepts returns of this product due to customer dissatisfaction: only due to manufacturing defect and with sealed box intact". So, again: buyer beware. The previous models of the WDTV are excellent and I totally stand by them, but this latest one seems to be a case of fixing what wasn't broken.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too small, 7 July 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good quality product, however the film is much too small for the screen, leaving a large unprotected area around the edges. Looks very awkward once installed, especially given the texture difference on the non-reflective surface.

3.0 out of 5 stars practical, reasonable quality and a fair price, 24 Sept. 2010

You will not be blown away by the quality of the pieces, they are small and cheap. Although the magnets are not very strong and you can hardly feel them when moving the pieces on the board, if you turn it upside down the pieces will not fall, so it does work as advertised. The box itself looks good, is well finished, very compact and handy. Not a set for proud display but perfect for its practical purposes. You won't regret this purchase if you don't expect too much of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent universal remote for its price, 15 Sept. 2010
Have bought it in local store but was so pleased with it that i decided to post a review here. Replaced 4 remotes with ease: 2 tv's, IPTV box and WD TV Live. Also controls a Mac when needed. Learns any control you throw at it and works with no fuss. Comes with no profile (programming code) for things like the Western Digital TV but you can easily "teach" it with the learning function, took about 5 minutes to copy entire WD TV remote (takes quite a lot of keypresses but the process is logical, works flawlessly with visual feedback, and really pays off in the end).
Build quality is quite good, does not feel "cheap" in any way, is a pleasure to use. In fact, it looks much better than it seemed when packaged, sort of grows on you as you use it. Could do without the chrome but the overall design is reassuringly unoffensive.
I was considering a Logitech super-duper remote but at this price, with this quality and functionality, this is a true bargain if you want to stop juggling remotes. Highly recommended.
