5.0 out of 5 stars Review the Blu-Ray..., 1 Aug 2013
For most Gabriel fans, the So era was a defining moment and this series of concerts were a major milestone in Gabriel's career. The open-air theatre at Lycabettus was the setting the first-ever filmed recording of a Peter Gabriel concert.
Yes it's true that various snippets have appeared over the years and some may feel that bringing everything together for the first time in HD-format is a bit of a rip-off. However...I do not! The one thing that Peter has learned over the years is how important the whole performance is both to the fans and from his own perspective. To that end, the sound on this recording is outstanding.
For those that purchased the So box and took advantage of the free download, you will have to admit that the step-up in performance and quality is very noticeable. I agree that it isn't perfect, but we should remember that the overall appearance will in some way be limited by the quality of the media available at the time. And as an added bonus you also get a second DVD too.
If you don't have the concert or bonus DVD, then this is a great show to have in the collection. Hence my five star review for this package. Buy with confidence.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very soft and does the job!, 7 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great throw and very good value for money. Deducted one star as if you have a habbit of lying on the bed and shuffle your feet, the backing deposits black fluff on the carpet (and you will find it all over the house)!

5.0 out of 5 stars A true classic era revisited, 24 Dec 2012
This review is from: Genesis Revisited II (Audio CD)
This is a great album. Steve's reworking of the original Genesis tracks are simply awesome! I agree with some recent posters that it does take some listening to, but once you are 'in the groove' it's absolutely stunning.
No...it isn't the original. But what this album reveals is the sheer brilliance of the original recordings. They may have been nearly 40 years ago (some of the Lamb staff anyway), but the recent Prog revival in the past few years has made this album a lot more relevant today than it might have been if released in isolation. A solid and professional recreation of an era that has sadly passed so many people by. Buy in confidence.

PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate (PC)
PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate (PC)

5.0 out of 5 stars The best value all-in-one photo editor just got better!, 25 Dec 2011
I have been an avid Paint Shop user since Paint Shop Pro 8. However, when Corel took over from JASC, they made several 'improvements' (their termonology...not mine) that turned a cracking piece of software into a nightmare. Response times slowed, support was non-existent...etc..
Paint Shop X was my first step back in, followed by X2. This version gets back to basics and at last Corel seem to have realised that it's what their customers need (not what they think they should have) that's important. The interface is clearer and less fussy, but the tools and features available give Adobe Photoshop CS4 and some aspects of CS5 something to worry about (I purchased CS5 for my desktop, but bought this as a quick editor for my laptop when on the move). The 'extras' in the Ultimate box are excellent and would cost more than the price I paid for this alone in some stores.
For the amateur or semi-pro, this does everything you would want, and at 10% of the price of CS5 ...it's an absolute steal. I'm beginning to wonder whether I should have gone back to Paint Shop rather than investing in CS5? Buy with confidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece!, 27 Oct 2011
This is a stunning piece of work! I was lucky enough to attend the second night of the two Hammersmith shows (having attended the initial 'Scratch My Back' tour at the O2). Peter's interpretations of his back catalogue are well put together, excellently produced and beautifully played by the New Blood Orchestra. Peter's vocals are also a perfect match...full of emotion when they need to be, yet not overwhelming against the background of the orchestral arrangements.
If listening to this on CD only, you can understand why some have not been so complimentary. Your mood or listening environment can affect the way in which you feel about the music. However, load up the Blu-ray and play it through your 5.1 surround system and you are immediately transported back to Hammersmith as part of the audience. As with all Gabriel productions, both sound and visuals have been carefully managed to provide the optimum listening and viewing experience.
One final point is the packaging. Almost 'LP-sized' (for those of a certain age), the hardback book-style case is immediately recognisable as a quality item. Weighty, and made of good quality materials, it's a pleasure to hold and the print quality of the photographs is also excellent.
All in all it's one of the best 'special editions' packs I've purchased for any artist and coupled with such high quality content too, this is recommended without reservation. 10/10

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been so much better, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: A Different Hat (Audio CD)
Paul Carrack has always been vastly underrated in my opinion. Aside from his early days with Squeeze and later with Mike & The Mechanics, he has also turned out some great solo albums that really play to the strengths of his soulful voice.

Compare some of the tracks on '21 Good Reasons' or 'Blue Views' with these tracks and I have to agree that this is bit of a disappointment. I am not so negative as to award it one star as the musicianship is still excellent. It's just that Paul has delivered an album which is 'so so'. No real highlights...background music for late night listening.

For that reason, I think it's a huge missed opportunity.

Panasonic KX-TG8424EB Colour DECT Quad Telephone with Answer Machine - Black
Panasonic KX-TG8424EB Colour DECT Quad Telephone with Answer Machine - Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the box!, 31 Jan 2010
Purchased these after switching telephone operator (all my sockets were BT so I needed good wireless coverage all over the house).
Set up was really simple and I especially liked being able to set up my contacts on one handset and transmit them to all the other handsets in about a minute or so. Signal works really well in all parts of the house (and some way down our garden too)...very clear and earpiece volume is plenty loud enough without having to up the volume.
Answerphone is all ready to go from the box (you can set up your own message if you don't want the standard pre-programmed one, but we are happy with it). You can also pick up messages directly from the base unit, or any of the handsets, so there is no need to 'hover' by one phone when listening to messages.
The ringtones with the handset are not all to my taste, but there is a reasonable selection to choose from. The one thing that some people may not like is that the handet screens are quite bright...even when in standby mode. Not a problem for us as we just turn the phone in our bedroom round at night. As for the other phones, they cast a nice dim blue glow that makes moving around the house at night easy without having to turn on the main lights (which isn't great when you have just woken up)!

All in all an excellent product from Panasonic made better by Amazon's very competitive pricing. Buy with confidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intuitive, fully-featured and great value for money!, 4 Aug 2009
I've been a Paint Shop Pro fan since PSP8 (having struggled with Photoshop Elements) and this latest release is just great. Photo magazines will continue to 'push' Adobe Photoshop as the ultimate photo editor (or Elements as a suitable alternative for the serious home photographer). However, overlooking Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate would be a mistake in my view.
X2 Ultimate is a steal at the price and has the vast majority of the functions you are ever likely to need (many of which are only available in the full version of Photoshop at nearly 10x the price)! Some have said that it isn't the easiest for beginners, but Corel provide a plethora of video tutorials to help the novice master the basics. I particularly like the use of simple English to describe the various functions too (e.g. need to straighten the horizon...use the 'straighten' tool), and the fact that in the latest version you can try the various tools and effects without changing the original jpeg file (the software automatically creates a new sub-directory in the folder with the unaltered originals).
RAW support is great and the slick new grey background is much easier on the eye.
It's unlikely that you'll need all of the tools available, but it's nice to know that you have a fully-featured package that won't need updating any time soon. A great buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice piece of kit!, 20 July 2009
I initially bought this to help record voices and instruments for my daughter's GCSE composition. It does a great job and allows you to save the individual parts and 'knit' them together with sound editing software. However, it is also excellent at gigs and other performances (be they large halls, schools halls or a room in the house) producing clear audio across all frequencies. You can adjust the levels manually, but I found that the the auto settings described in the manual do exactly as they say. It also has a useful metronome and tuning facility.

I do agree with other reviews in that having the outer case made of plastic, does make it feel a little cheap. However, I didn't buy it for the quality of the plastic, but the quality of the recordings it produces and on that basis it is well worth the 5 stars at this price.

Epson inks are not cheap and I can fully understand why people choose cheaper alternatives (I have done the same). However, if you are serious about your photography and the print quality of your pictures, these Claria inks have to be your first choice.
