Tinker Tailor soldier . . . . . something, 29 April 2012
I watched this film on April 28th 2012. One of the first impressions I had of the film was that there was a lot of grey in it - and most of it was quite dark which was a nuisance. Our TV is old and the resolution somewhat reduced from what it would have been like when it was bought new, at some point in the latter half of the 20th century. Therefore, the characters were hard to identify and I frequently got those played by Gary Oldman and John Hurt mixed up. I also didn't realise till reading through the Wikipedia (to try and figure out what happened) that Benedict Cucumber-batch was in it. Partly, because didn't realise that the character he played and the one played by Tom Hardy were different (Wikipedia).
So in summary. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, a film with a very boring plot that is hard to follow if you don't have either a HD television or a good working knowledge of the speech profiles of some of the top brass in Anglo-American cinema. A storyline interspersed with mild nudity that probably wouldn't even assist a teenager's desperate Saturday afternoon w**k following their parents' recently enforced Internet security settings.
