4.0 out of 5 stars good value, 11 Feb. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Really good value, good quality made and efficient burning every time, no disc is a cropper, and fast burning speeds. Only thing is the blue, which makes it very hard to read anything you might write on it with a marker. You can purchase luminous marker pens apparently...

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential viewing, 11 Feb. 2010
This really is fantastic tv viewing. The characters are likeable, the setting is vibrant and engrossing. Each episode has a focus on one aspect of their exciting lives in the favelas. The whole series has an upbeat energy, and is just utterly compelling. The only downsides are that each episode just seems too short, and at times they speak so fast that it takes full concentration to read the subtitles rapidly and watch all the fast paced action at the same time. Overall, better than the city of God and a must have dvd.

Damages - Complete Season 1 and 2 [DVD]
Damages - Complete Season 1 and 2 [DVD]
Dvd ~ Glenn Close

5.0 out of 5 stars Top class series, 11 Feb. 2010
Engrossing series, with quality performances throughout. Glenn Close's complexity of character battling with her own demons is just inspired acting. Rose Byrne is seriously beautiful and really draws the watcher in as someone to root for. Ted Danson is bang on form. The first series is a cracker with a storyline that unfolds, using a technique of flashes of what becomes of them in the future, and then continues the storyline, leaving you constantly guessing what's going to happen and who's going to stab who in the back. This really adds to the suspense. The script is also very well paced and written with a lot of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Series two is not quite as good as series one, a somewhat less gripping storyline, but still has the quality acting etc. Series 3 is supposed to be the best one so far, I'm looking forward to it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sopranos meets Neighbours, 11 Feb. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sopranos, mixed with neighbours... or maybe that's a bit harsh. Anyway, a decent crack at the gangster genre, and stands apart from the others because it's Aussie, and also because it's supposedly based on true events. Entertaining enough, but maybe relies a bit too much on the brutality involved rather than exploring the other sides of the characters very much. As a result, you never really care for any of them (like you might for Tony Soprano or similar), and it just becomes another run of the mill (and quite predictable) gansgta series. Additionally, the script isn't exactly complex, and throws up nothing new or inspired, although is quite funny in parts due to the usual Aussie banter. If you're looking for another gangster series with a bit of a different setting, then watch this. If you're looking for something quite original, look elsewhere...

1.0 out of 5 stars random and boring..., 11 Feb. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Thought this was worth a gamble being HBO, as most of their other programs are great, but I was wrong. It's very random with abstract storytelling that goes absolutely nowhere. It has got some clever dialogue (as it's made by the deadwood people), but the dialogue just doesn't suit the setting at all, and it all feels like a waste of my time. The ending is the worst bit, as it doesn't make any effort to conclude the story (if there was a 'story'), and it leaves you feeling completely confused by what exactly you're supposed to make of it all... Not entertainment, not engrossing, just longwinded boredom.

4.0 out of 5 stars quality noise cancellation, 11 Feb. 2010
Very good noise cancellation for the price. The buds fit in very well, and the sound is excellent, including the bass response. I've also got a sony x series, which comes with a version of these, but without the battery pack bit (as the cancellation is built in the walkman), and that's the ideal setup if you're up for upgrading you're walkman... Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars not bad..., 10 Feb. 2010

Pretty good, if you're camera is small. Tripod is great idea, if you're placing camera on an uneven surface for auto shoot. Good quality feel, and looks sporty. Attached to camera so you wont leave it behind. Only thing is that the case flaps about under the camera when unwrapped, which looks a bit naff, but otherwise decent enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, 10 Feb. 2010
Chose this over the competition for the huge number of formats it can run. It does run them all, but with varying success... Great for epubs, RTFs and PDF's (uses brilliant text reflow for most PDF's). Not so great for doc, txt. lit files load very slowly. However, at least it handles lit files which can save a stack of cash if you know where to get them... Otherwise great matt 'rubbery' feel to the case, decent screen which is perfect size for portability. Could do with extra proper pageturn buttons on right side, but small issue. Overall, great product. If bought, download free 'calibre' program, an 'itunes' for your ebooks - brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars simple but great, 10 Feb. 2010

Needed a dock for my x series walkman, sound is good enough for the size. Size is handy, good for a desk or similar. Takes batteries so great if you're the camping/picnic type. The remote is no frills, but handy. Charges while docked. Radio on walkman works fine while docked (so long as headphones are plugged in too). Additionally it has a line in, so you can double it up as speakers for your phone, laptop or whatever. Also looks good!

The airflow is ok in uk temperatures, but I took it to the tropics, and could hardly feel a thing unless I got my face right up to it. It's noisy (so not good for shared office usage), and the biggest problem was the 'bonus' light on it, which is always shining in your eyes...rubbish
