3.0 out of 5 stars No Real New Insights, 1 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Economist missed a chance to reveal true insights about how the various changes that its authors are describing will impact society and the economy over the coming 40 years. The book is a collection of essays that are mostly written in a descriptive rather than analytical tone (there are some positive exceptions). The sections on population, geopolitics, and the economy provide some interesting statistics. But the section dealing with science and technology is a low-key affair. Most surprisingly, no comprehensive attempt is made to connect the various subjects that are written about to paint clearer "what-if" scenarios.

5.0 out of 5 stars Benchmark Cabo Verde beats, 1 Sep 2011
This review is from: Cabo Verde Show 2008 (Audio CD)
Lots of uplifting Cabo Verde benchmark tunes on this album like "Mote Ingles Convivencia" and "Gatinha". No idea why this beat has not made it more mainstream yet, given the amount of mainstream garbage in the charts. Not all tracks are great, but many are. Enjoy them.

3.0 out of 5 stars All right, 27 Jan 2006
This review is from: Soulful House Sessions (Audio CD)
This collection is OK, but falls short of the A1 benchmark. It has great tunes on it such as "I think of You". But many tracks are mediocre. Being an international clubber/listener (Shelter, P1, Nova etc.) I am still waiting for the real break-through CD for Soulful House. There is so much great stuff out there. Where is the Quincey Jones of Soulful House?

5.0 out of 5 stars A gentle massive voice, 6 Jan 2006
This review is from: Corinne Bailey Rae (Audio CD)
Watch out Miss Dynamite and Joss Stone. Her comes Corinne Bailey Rae. My bet is that she will leave them far behind. Amazing power and expression despite such a gentle voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kes - re-discovery, 22 Oct 2002
This review is from: Kes (Audio CD)
I do not know the film, but this soundtrack deserves recognition, being undoubtelyly one of the greatest I know. Although unreleased for over thirty years (peculiar) it has a VERY modern ring to it: a strange mix of sounds reminding one of Copland and Sun Ra. Clearly some of the finest musicians Britain had on offer in 1969 are at work. Kes is for any serious music discoverer, regardless of style.
