5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money!, 8 Dec 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I feel that the two reviews already posted are very accurate in their description of the DVD. If you are thinking of buying it, go ahead, you will not be disappointed!

I am not sure how old the previous two reviewers are but the comments about the interaction between Peter McParland and Ray Wood are uncalled for. In those days a shoulder to shoulder charge was part of the game and was allowed on the goalkeeper as well. The incident was the subject of much press comment at the time - there was no foul, but the associated clash of heads was unfortunate. I bought the DVD because it was the first Cup Final I ever watched on TV and I wanted to see the pre-Munich United in action again. I do not follow either of the two teams but to see the magic of David Pegg, Johnny Berry and a very young but outstanding Bobby Charlton again reminded me of what a great team United were then. The top action of the whole game for me was the flying bullet header by McParland for the first Villa goal.

As I said, if you are thinking of buying it, go ahead and enjoy some excellent football!

1.0 out of 5 stars Atrocious!!!, 17 Nov 2014
This review is from: 1914 [DVD] (DVD)
This was by far the worst film that I have ever seen. As it was supposedly filmed in a WW1 trench, you would think that they would at least do a little research into how a trench was constructed. As has already been implied, it could have been filmed in a (too) shallow hole in the director's garden. Everything about this film was awful. Be warned - don't waste your money on this film and, if it came to you as a gift, do yourself a favour and put it straight in the bin to avoid wasting any of your life attempting to view it!

1.0 out of 5 stars The very worst of war action/drama DVDs., 22 July 2012
This review is from: USS Sea Viper [DVD] (DVD)
I totally agree with the comments so far. This film lacks credible plotline. It is easy to understand what their objectives are, but really difficult to understand where they are along the path to achieving these objectives. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this! You have been warned!

1.0 out of 5 stars The call to duty - sadly they didn't have any training first!, 22 July 2012
I totally agree with Stelin's comments. As an ex-serviceman I was particularly unhappy about the total lack of understanding about basic technique. To stroll into a village, which could conceal the enemy, all grouped together as if looking for the local ice-cream van, is an insult to the viewer's intelligence. I am a war film fanatic, this is abject rubbish and barely worth one star. Don't waste your money!

1.0 out of 5 stars Anzio - you must be joking!, 6 May 2008

Don't even think about wasting your money on this pathetic offering. As one who takes war films very seriously, I cannot believe that Robert Mitchum actually agreed to be a part of this sad and pathetic offering!!!
