Learning jQuery 1.3 (From Technologies to Solutions)
by Karl Swedberg

5.0 out of 5 stars jQuery from the ground up, 11 Jun 2009

I have not finished reading the book yet but I have enjoyed it since the start. Its a shame it did not arrive before my holiday.

My impression is that you do not need a solid knowledge and understanding of JavaScript but will be difficult for the very beginner to follow. It really is a good reference for everyone that may want to take first steps in jQuery and it is a good reference on the way to master those skills. Everything is simply explained and well supported with examples that get sophisticated by the end of each chapter, taking you trough many variations and possible scenarios.

Do not be scared by the subject or the size of the book it will really make everything frustrating about JavaScript achievable in no time with many exciting features available and complete control over the DOM. Accessibility is not disregarded either, the approach taken is providing improved interactivity to the user experience layered on top of what usually is a static content. I am now one happy owner of a copy of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great JavaScript starting point in the right direction, 20 Mar 2009

This book will give a solid foundation on how to build on a better websites with the use of Document Object Model and JavaScript.
Apart from being easy to read and understand the book covers on how to improve, add a layer of interactivity and better user experience with the help of JavaScript. Many common mistakes and JavaScript missuses can be avoided if the methods of Progressive Enhancement described are followed. Should be read by anyone who has touched on JavaScript and would like to dig deeper the right way. I never regret buying and will be following closely Jeremy Keiths' other releases.
