A Really Good Study Guide For Core Science, 3 Dec. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The GCSE Core Science for AQA Student Book is really wellwritten, with good size diagrams throughout. The online part is very useful, as you may not always wish to carry your whole book around with you. It also includes additional videos that help to explain some of the information in a different way.
Some of the topics included in the book are as follows: Biology : Keeping Healthy, Nerves and Hormones, Use and Abuse of Drugs, Energy, Genetic Variation and its Control; Chemistry: Fundamentals, Limestone, Metals, Crude Oil, and Plant Oils; Physics: Energy Transfer, Energy Efficiency, Electricity, and Waves. Each of these main topics are further broken down into subsections.
Following on from the individual topic areas, there are some sample practice, and exam, questions, and a section that looks at the assessment methods used for the GCSE. These types of practice tests, and the tips that are included in the book, will help prepare you/your child for sitting the exams confidently.
Overall, the book is well presented, and full of lots of information to help you prepare for your exam. The online edition is a bonus, and is great for helping to fit in a little extra revision.

ThoughtProvoking Argument, 2 Dec. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
'Can Science Fix Climate Change?' is an interesting read. Mike Hulme has clearly researched his side of the topic very thoroughly. The writing is fluent, making a strong argument against rushing into tackling climate change through the use of such large scale experimental spraying techniques. He questions who should be charged with making such decisions, and what we are prepared to sacrifice in order to go ahead with these ideas.
His argument centres upon whether it would be wise to potentially jump in with both feet, and try to alter things on such a huge scale, when not enough has been researched about other potential side effects of these 'solutions'.
Hulme certainly writes a compelling piece of work, that is well worth reading, regardless of your stance on the matter. Very thought provoking.

Great Question Book., 2 Dec. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The GCSE Core Science AQA 10Minute Tests book is a great resource for students preparing for their GCSE Science. There are 30 tests included, each designed to be answered within a 10 minute timespan. The main topics that appear in the questions are Human Biology, Environment & Evolution, Products From Rocks, Oils & Atmosphere, Energy, and Electricity and Waves.
All of the topics listed have five tests dedicated to them. The answers are all supplied, so that you can check your work after each test. Many of the questions are in multiple choice format, although some do expect a short written answer.
There is a progress chart at the back of the book, so that you can record the results. This enables the user to track their progress, and to assess which areas of the subject they may need the most revision on.
Overall, the tests are a great way of checking your knowledge of the subject, but are probably best used alongside one of the study guides. As a question and answer book, it does what it needs to, but if you get any of the questions wrong it would be well worth doing some further background reading in a study guide.

The Best CGP Revision Book I Have Seen So Far!, 30 Nov. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The New GCSE Maths AQA Exam Revision Guide: Higher for the Grade 91 Course is jampacked with information. There are seven main sections, and many subsections, of all aspects of the new GCSE in Maths, being sat from 2017 onward. The main sections are as follows: Number, Algebra, Graphs, Ratio, Proportion, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Probability. Each of these main areas is further divided into smaller sections, for example, the Algebra section has subsections about Algebraic Fractions, and also about Simultaneous Equations.
The layout of the revision guide is sharp, with clear and concise points being made throughout. The book is easily dipped into and out of, and this makes it absolutely perfect for revision. There are lots of examples, and diagrams, to help illustrate the key points.
At the end of each section there are revision questions, and examstyle questions, to check your understanding of the topics just covered. these are a great way of ascertaining any areas of strength, or weakness.
Also included, towards the end of the book, is a fullset of practice exam papers. Answers are included, with indepth explanation of them too. this is very useful for enabling you to highlight any areas that you are doing well in, and also those that need some more work done with them.
Overall, the revision guide is perfect. It keeps each section sharp, and snappy. The information is wellpresented, and the trial revision questions are really the icing on the cake. The revision guide is one of the best I have seen, and I highly recommend it.
