5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the album of the year, 28 Aug. 2015
This review is from: What Went Down (Audio CD)
Just when you think that Foals can't keep improving they markedly improve on their fourth album.

This is still very much in a 'Foals' style i.e. catchy melodic indie, but they've bolstered the anthemic 'arena' feel, that was starting to emerge on Holy Fire, but has been massively refined on this album.

Hearing Mountain at my Gates build and build over it's duration is like crack for my ears. This is an argument album i.e. I'd stop talking mid-sentence to Dangerspouse and just listen to this and cause an argument.

Buy two copies as you will want to give the pleasure of this album to someone else. Highly recommended

Cracking old fashioned rock and roll. If it ain't broken don't fix it is definitely a mantra here but with tons of hooks, a great voice and some tight musical arrangements this is a must for a indie-rock fans. 'Swarm' is the best, (one of the best rock tunes I've heard in ages), but I've really enjoyed the whole album with 'XXX' 'Girlfriend' and 'Where You At' particularly hitting the spot too.

This is similar to Bonobo / Maribou State et al, i.e. usually slow, gentle music but still grabs your attention with a gradual increase in tempo throughout the album. It's a really impressive album and needs to be heard through headphones in one sitting. Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.

I'm not a Robyn fan, but I heard this on Annie Mac's show and almost crashed the car trying to find out who it was. It's not what I expected to hear (but that might be down to my ignorance of Robyn), as it's an electro retro house stomper with some R&B elements in there too.

If this is what she's sounding like now she's got a new fan. If she doesn't, this tune is still exceptionally good.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favourite albums of 2015, 25 Jun. 2015

Totally agree with Racing on this one. This album is going to be one of my favourites of 2015, and probably in the Top 3. The album is taking you on a journey it's got some lovely midtempo dance moments reminiscent of Caribou, some downtempo moments like Bonobo or Frameworks (another favourite album and well worth checking out if you like this) and bits in-between, that in equal measures make you want to dance, wiggle / shuffle and just listen.

This is album starts off very good and gets better and I'd thoroughly recommend listening to it on headphones with no distractions, as it demands your attention

Elegiac, mainly downtempo music that grabs you by the short and curlies. This is very like Bonobo's new album, and that's in no way a bad thing, It's full of strings and emotive hooks and some cracking guest vocalists. My personal favourites are 'Old Friend' & 'Dawn' but they are all really good.

If you like this you should also like Hardkandy

I've tried to like Hot Chip over the years, and I've really persevered too, but they never really floated my boat with the exception of the odd song. But this album is the total opposite, it's really floating my boat with only one exception. I think it's because this sounds more akin to Alexis Taylor's impressive Two Bears side project, which is a bit more house orientated with a bit less of the 'pop' polish that Hot Chip seem to add...either way it's a winner for me with the two singles probably being the best on offer and a good idea of the slightly more boisterous sound.

As good as any soulful Roots Reggae you will ever hear. Starting with the classic 'This Is Reggae Music' it gets better and better. If you like Roots Reggae you need this album, if you don't, you need this album too.

One of the best house tunes I've heard in years. It could be from 20 years ago, but it still sounds excellent now. Piano led euphoric house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Personally i love all of We Have Band's albums, 8 July 2014

All a matter of opinion, i guess. Personally i love all of We Have Band's albums, and this is another great addition. It's a great album to have on when you want something not too quiet but not too clubby. They make pop / house tunes, nothing ground breaking but if it ain't broken, why fix it.
