Mixture of soul, smooth hip hop and reggae with loads and loads of funk. Really impressed with this album. If you like this check out Blend -'Misplaced' which is another similar album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Total classic!!, 1 Feb. 2008

This review is from: Crazy Noise (Audio CD)
This is a real classic toughish funky hiphop album that it seems hardly anyone knows about. Similar in style to Tuff Crew, Grandmaster Flash, Poor Righteous Teachers, B.D.P etc.

Well worth a purchase, you won't regret it if you like old skool hiphop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a single bad track....., 21 Oct. 2007
This review is from: I Gotta New Dance (Audio CD)
It's not very often that an album with 23 tracks on it, hits the spot with every single track but this does!!! As it says on the cover, "latin, funk, soul torpedos are gonna rock your boat", if these genres of music are your bag, then I defy you to not smile and dance like no-ones watching!

I'd give this 6 stars if I could.......

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't do it!!!, 15 Aug. 2007
This review is from: Funk It: Remixed Hits (Audio CD)
There's only one decent remix on this...Da Funked Remix of 'Hot Pants', apart from that they are shocking treatments of some of the best funk you'll ever hear. Da Funked uses the original a lot more and doesn't try and recreate it, but use it for their purposes. The others, sadly, have strayed too far from the originals.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd give this 6 stars if I could, 20 April 2007
This is the best mix album EVER. I love Coldcut's JDJ, but this is a different class. It covers drum & bass, funk, soul, hiphop, rock, 60's, 70's and everything up, down, and in between.

My music collection is well over 2500 CD's and my music tastes are very eclectic, and this is the one album/CD that I would have above all others....it's that good. Prepare for a totally awe-inspiring journey through musical genres.

This is easily the best FSUK and I can't believe that it is still relatively unknown when people talk about the best mix CD's ever. Go on, you won't regret it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funkier as a mosquito's tweeter..., 9 Jan. 2007
There isn't a bad tune on here. If you like funk and soul from the 70's then you need to buy this album and the other two in the series. Some classics and some that you won't know how you lived without.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funkier than a funky thing with funk in its bones!, 23 Nov. 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

Think Dynamo Productions, Fort Knox Five, All Good Funk Alliance etc, and this is Fdel!! Funk driven beats and grooves that will have you dancing your ass off. Kind off modern day beats with some old style funk mixed in. Perfect for any party, dancefloor, bedroom, kitchen, wherever you want!

This is quite possibly the best album I've heard this year and there have been some killer albums. All of the tracks are outstanding. Only problem is that you will probably damage your ears as you turn it up and up and up...!!! This isn't leaving my stereo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as you would expect it to be......, 23 Nov. 2006
This review is from: Blueprint (Audio CD)
This is bang on!! Basically if the name interests you, you are alomst certain to like this! Bongo-driven instrumental funk, with uptempo, midtempo and downtempo. This is a gem of CD, that won't disappoint if you like funk. Not a bad track on there, with Soul Caravan & 16th Century Troubadour being stand out trakcs for me.

So funky you can smell it!!!!

We Are Little Barrie
We Are Little Barrie

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favourite band!!, 4 Oct. 2006
This review is from: We Are Little Barrie (Audio CD)
This deserves 6 stars. The tunes are a melting pot of indie-rock, funk, and northern soul (similar to Nino Moschella and The Bees) and all with a unstoppable groove.

They experiment with their beats and on some of them they almost sound like hiphop beat (listen to Free Salute, Burned Out and Stones Throw), with others being typical indie, and others leaning towards funk. The fact that DJ Nu-Mark remixed Burned Out says it all!

Not quite like the usual tunes that you hear these days and all the better for it. This is a cracking album and Little Barrie fully deserve to be Massive Barrie.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Good!!!, 2 Oct. 2006
This review is from: Social Comment (Audio CD)
In my experience there aren't many albums that have no filler tracks, with all of the tracks hittin' the spot; this is one of those rare occasions.

The music is a fusion of mainly funk, hiphop and beats with some very slight house influences, in the similar vein as Fort Knox Five, Dynamo Productions & Boca 45. Most of the tracks are mid to uptempo (circa 110-115bpm) with one or two slower tracks that still maintain the groove.

If you are familiar with A.G.F.A., this will not disappoint, if you aren't familiar with them, you should be!! Virtually all of the tracks will have you reaching for the volume button as they need to be played loud.

I love this album so much that I would have given it 6 stars if that was possible!! This is a sure fire winner for the dancefloor.
