4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe Blackberry is Catching up!, 20 Feb 2013
The phone is well designed, elegant, feels stable and is very powerful.

Right now there are not many apps but that wil change very soon once apps are moved to BB10 OS from the old OS.

The phone required a bit of patience to set up and can be a little frustrating unless you follow the below:

Bacc up your old BB with Desktop software, then connect your new BB10 to your computer, install the BB10 replacement of Desktop (BB LINK) then sybne your new phone and everything will automatically merge pretty seemlessly.
The internet browser is amazingly fast, the camera is incredible with great picture quality and the new features for editing the photos you take is brilliant

I have had mine abot 48 Hours now and I have no problems with the new gesture driven actions etc.

I would have ideally waited 2 months before buying but was forced to purchase early as i accidently broke my old BB Bold. Yes te phones highly priced but if you take care of your phone the value will be there in the long run.

My friends who are iphone users are very impressed with the browser speed, camera and design.

As a BB user for some time I love the phone and its stopped me moving to iphone which i was very close to doing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The continuing mission, 9 April 2010
This was one of my favourite films of the year, fast paced great plot and some really good character performances throughout. The film was really well conceived and put together, it adds a whole new twist to the Trek series as the time line is altered initally to unrecognisable levels but in the end all the characters end up in their rightful positions. Spok & Kirk are really well played and seeing the old spok really briong the story together. I cant wait to see where the new series goes. The image quality and effects are amazing really making the film look retro futureistic. This 3 disc set is well worth the money the Blu Tay film is superb quality, the extras great fun and well created and having the digital copy is a great bonus as I can now watch this on the move. A just have for any one who enjoys great sci fi/ action films

4.0 out of 5 stars absorbing film, 9 April 2010
This review is from: Gran Torino [DVD] [2009] (DVD)
I found Gran Torino a gripping film, the story is wonderfully put together and the casts performances are quite amazing. I am not a die hard eastwood fan but this could convert me his performance and the film itself are quite wonderful. The film has a simple and clear plot the only twist coming right at the end of the film as Eastwood confronts his demons and trys to give his new found freinds a better chance in life. I really enjoyed this an it's well worth a watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cushty my son....Cushty, 1 Feb 2010
The best British sitcom ever......YES! The best put together DVD...NO!
Despite what some reviewers say this is edited by the BBC...it says so on the underside of the box!
However having watched the lot and having seen many OFAH on TV recently the edit is not bad, I have not noticed anything major missing. There is music in the background where its ment to be generally although the exception i noted was in 'Class of 62' where the music to The Mighty Quinn is missing. Otherwise i have noticed nothing else and the DVD is hours of laughs. This is the full collection of series and not the specials and havong read the speical episode DVD reviews I am glad I went fo this as the special;s have been ruined by BBC editing.
If you love Only Fools then this is great value @ arund 30.

4.0 out of 5 stars the return of the king, 25 Jan 2010
This review is from: Looking For Eric [DVD] (DVD)
Being a life long red I had to see this, the positive reviews and publicity just hightened my interest.
The film is very enjoyable with a deep seat in the modern world of young borken families and inner city violence. But while sometimes dark & gritty the film has bags of light and very funny moments. Some of it quite footy specific humour but the excellent cast provide you with great entertainment. Cantona produces an excellent performance, confident and with the old swagger the king showed in his old trafford days.
an enjoyable film but one that is aimed more at the red half of manchester!

4.0 out of 5 stars what a STORM, 30 Nov 2009
Back in 2006/7 Blackberry seemed to burst onto the scene - all my bosses had the very business like ones
Earlier this may I upgraded my phone. I searched for a long time and went for this. After 6 months it's been an excellent choice and I have few gripes to note.

Looks: The Storm grabs you first by it appearence, it's sleek and very cool. It looks business like in a cool 'James Bond' way!
Sound - my rigntones are songs i have transferred over from my ipod - the sound is good, clean and loud. Ring tones are crisp and clear. Vibration is good too and the LED light is a good 'alert' as well

The Screen: This is the STORMS big 'feature' the click touch screen! This was what made me wait to buy rather then jump in! But no fear - the tehnology works. My first few mnessages and emails took a while to do but once I had used the phone for a few dasy I got into the 'click' I can type as quickly as on a nurmal phone and love the choice of quick type, and querty options. The screen is big and clear - like a ipod touch for instance. The click does take some getting used to. But now I am very comfortable with it. But it can be fiddly at 1st...be warned!

Internet & connectivity: The STORMS majoy failing is it doesn't have wifi....WHAT! yes indeed. apparently rectified for STORM 2. This really does let the phone down and is the major reason for the 4 stars & not 5 The 3G connection is excellent and the phone is very clever so - if you cant get 3G it acceses 2G or a mixture and thus you still get super quick data connections

Battery Life: Again a gripe for some but not me - theer is a simple method here.....if you use the phone for EVERYTHING - i.e. lots of media the battery dies quickly! But if like me you are a 'sensible user' and understand the concept of the more you use the phone and for more activities the shorter the battery you'll be fine. I charge mine daily but it can comfortable last 24-48 hours.

The extras: The apps work well but are some way behind iphone/ipod touch mainly business focussed just now but expanding all th time, I have a memory card in mine and this really boosts the memory - although the phone meomry is good. The camera is clean and clear with a good flash an the video qulity is good also - but remember it's a camera in a phone...not a phone in a camera! The Maps app works very well and is simple and clear to use a major plus. The iphone is probable the better all round package but i do like the STORM and it will continue to get better.

Look no further - Bamix really do make the best hand blenders on the market
Yes other are alot cheaper - but they will last 12-18 months max - this will last you YEARS. They look great and are so versaite - whisking, mixing, blending, grinding - they really do everything you want
Bamix are more powerful and work at higher speeds so the work gets done faster and to a higher standard
Simply the best - foreget the price tag - it's worth it

5.0 out of 5 stars Great food, great book, 16 Feb 2009
There seems to have been a shift in Chef Ramsays style of books recently, since the launch of 3 * Chef he has moved back to more basic home cooking. And for all keem home cooks thats a good thing. Although hos previous books were beautiful to look at and filled with gorgeous recipes they were costly & time consuming to make.

Cooking with friends is a real back to basics, quality cook book, one to have by the stove all the time.

As usual well presented with great pictures, hints & tips from the great man and some pretty good dishes too. It's the sort of food you want to cook and eat on a regular basis things like chicken pie, Broccoli soup, blue cheese tarts etc. Real quality home cooking. The book is well layed out with sections on:
1. Hot & Cold Soups - Inc Roast Chestnut, Parsnip & Apple, Curried cauliflower & cheddar, oxtail, chilled cucumber
2. Pasta & Grains - Linguine with lemon feta & basil, Kedgeree, goats cheese lentil & beetroot salad
3. Fish & shellfish - fish curry, Red mullet, Devilled mackerel
4. Meat & poultry - Rabbit stew, Honey roast ham, Duck wit port & cherries,
Pies & tarts (my favorite bit!) - Raised Game Pie, Chicken pie, smoked salmon & horseradish cream tarts
5. Vegies & salads
6. Puddings - Apple pie, lemon meringue, Trifle
coffee & chocs, - dark chock cake, coffee & choc pots

A great book that will keep your testbeds happy for a very long time

The River Cottage Meat Book
The River Cottage Meat Book
by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 27.90

5.0 out of 5 stars Real food, real cooking, 14 Feb 2009
What an excellent book this is.

I have had my copy for about 2 years now and use it regularly, the dishes are delicious, the recipes well written and the book is filled with loads of pointers on buying storing & cooking a variety of meats. A collection of classics and slightly more obscure dishes with foods from England, europe, america and india.

My personal favorites in this book being - Lancashire Hotpot, Chicken Murgh Murkhani (Curry!) & Steak Pie......

Most fo the dishes are slow cooking, stews, pies etc yet there is a great section on fast cooking as well as preserving. And for recession hit Britain an excellent section - MEAT THRIFT. A section dedicated to using leftovers and making the most of spares etc.

For any keen cook & foodie a must have. With info on meat cuts, seasonality for eating and a collection of excellent recipes............Just don't give it to a vegie!

Rambo [Blu-ray] [2008]
Rambo [Blu-ray] [2008]
Dvd ~ Sylvester Stallone
Price: 6.50

5.0 out of 5 stars The One Man War Returns, 12 Feb 2009
This review is from: Rambo [Blu-ray] [2008] (Blu-ray)
I missed this at the cinema and now I think i'm a bit stupid for doing so as this is superb - Action packed, very violent but very well made and facing up to the facts of one of 07/08's big international disgraces (Bruma Civil War).
The film shows the sickening acts perpetrated by the Burma Army against their own people. With Rambo now living a peaceful life but still looking as angry as ever he is called to action once again. After some missionaries he meets get captured he enters Burma with some Militia lead by a gobby Londoner.
The Militia underestimate J.Rambo but soon find out they have a one man army as an ally. They infiltrate the prison camp to rescue the missionaries and then try to escape killing many Burma Army men en route taking revenge for the people of the nation.

This is an uber violent film but very well made and looking superb in Hi Def. There's not many extras but what there are, id say are pretty good. The sound on this is huge, it will blow your ear drums.

DEFINITELY NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED!
