Not much lead in this, judging by the weight! Battery died after just over a year of light use.

4.0 out of 5 stars An attractive and very economical alternative to the conventional filament strip light, 25 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought 2 of these for the picture lights on my landing, and they are the first LED lamps that I have used. They are solidly made (rigid plastic diffuser at the front, extruded aluminium heatsink at the rear), and I had no problems inserting them into the lamp holders. They provide a very even illumination (you cannot detect the individual LEDs) and the brightness is about the same as a conventional 60W filament lamp. I measured the power consumption at just under 5W, making them a very efficient and economical lamp. I have noticed a slight difference in the colour temperature of the 2 lamps, and both provide a slightly cool rather than 'warm white', but your eyes soon adjust.

I think the reference to 'Fluorescent Tube' in the product description is misleading. The standard 284mm strip light is a filament lamp. There are low energy versions available that use a fluorescent tube, but in my experience they do not last very long. This LED version look nicer, and should last a lot longer (hopefully!).

5.0 out of 5 stars A can opener with a can do attitude, 25 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Must have spent a small fortune on slightly cheaper, but totally useless alternatives. This is much more solidly made, and makes opening cans a joy. Just a shame that so many tins now come with a ring-pull.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Small and fast., 9 Oct. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very worthwhile upgrade from my USB 2.0 card reader. Using a Transcend 85MB/s SD card I can pull data off the card at about 80-90MB/s using the Windows driver here: [...]

--- Sadly Amazon have removed the link to the driver. It is available from the Hama website. ---

The reader is very small and seems well made. CF cards locate positively and SD cards do not require too much insertion force (unlike some readers I've used). My only criticism is that the connecting lead is far too short to be of use to anyone using a desktop PC. Fortunately Amazon sell this extension lead: Max Value 2m USB 3 Extension Cable - Black which is cheap and works fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars XMP spec is over optimistic, but still very good value, 8 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Using this with an an Asus P8Z68-V LX M/B and Intel i5-2500K CPU. It won't run at the XMP rated speed of 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 at 1.5v (to be honest I wasn't really expecting it to for the price). However it has been running totally reliably at 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 at 1.35v, and I consider it to be very good value.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good chair, poor customer support from Eliza Tinsley, 8 Dec. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having read the previous two reviews, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm deformed!

I also bought one of these in the Black Friday sale and, at that price, it was very good value for money. I'm a man of average height and build, and find this chair extremely comfortable. I agree that it is a shame that neither the back nor the headrest are height adjustable, but it seems to fit me ok. I did turn the headrest pad upside down, which made it feel more comfortable for me.

The chair looks good, is well made, and operates smoothly.

Update: I have since discovered that Eliza Tinsley do not provide any support for their chairs purchsed from Amazon. If any component is missing or broken, you will need to arrange for Amazon to replace the entire chair!

3.0 out of 5 stars Expensive and not that good, 15 Mar. 2011
I bought one of these about 15 years ago. I returned the canvas version because it was too heavy for me, and the stitching was poor. The Nytex version was much lighter and more comfortable. Unfortunately the foam in the internal dividers has disintegrated, rendering them useless. I contacted Billingham (the bag was sold with a lifetime warranty) but they didn't want to know. I now use a smaller Tamrac bag, which is just as well made, and far cheaper.

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful device despite a couple of shortcomings (and short leads!), 22 July 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First sample returned as the disk access LED did not work (it only works with the USB connection BTW) and was quickly replaced by Amazon.

The unit is well made and functions as intended. I use the eSATA connection which operates at the native speed of the drive, rather than the significantly slower USB connection.

The power switch is at the rear and can be a bit fiddly. It is important to use this to power down the drive before ejecting it from the docking station. An alternative would be to issue a spin down command from suitable software on the PC (a pity Windows doesn't do this when you issue an eject removable media command!)

The only other thing to be wary of is that the disk drive will become warm or even hot after an hour or so as there is no forced cooling, so probably a good idea to configure power saving on the PC to turn off unused drives after an hour.

The instructions are useless and the leads are too short! but otherwise this is a very useful device.
