Not great for absolute beginners but a great crash course for the rest of us!, 21 Aug 2009
I've been working my way through this in preparation for a PGCE music specialism. It's well thought out, explains key concepts well, and teaches good practice. Fifty-something pages in and I can actually say with some confidence that I'm learning something!
The thing about harmony is that the 'rules' are actually pretty simple- but to do anything with them your ear has to learn them, as well as your mind. That takes practice and a bit of work- this book provides a good framework.
