5.0 out of 5 stars Superb track from an awsome album!, 16 May 2007
This review is from: Follow Me (Audio CD)
For me this is the main song of the album! great start very much like Keane's song Hamburg, but not for long, it's a real indie tune. Listen to it, also have a look at the revie i wrote for the album. Great song! Thirteen Senses deserve more credit than they get!

5.0 out of 5 stars There 1st effort was good, but "Contact" is a stunner!, 14 May 2007
This review is from: Contact (Audio CD)
I was impressed by Thirteen Senses first album, but there follow up is superb! They have gone for a completely different sound with their new album. Some tracks to listen out for are All The Love In Your Hands, which is the most up beat song on the album, it's one of those songs you have to have loud to appreciate it to it's full extent. The drums are awsome. Opening track aswell, is so different to what you usually hear from the band. For me though the stand out track on the album is "Follow Me" an absoloute master peice, you have to listen to it!

Buy this album, it was truly worth the wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mel C is back with a big bang and "This Time" will make it big time!, 2 April 2007
This review is from: This Time (Audio CD)
Mel C is back to try and convince the music fans that she still has the old days in her. I tell you what she aint done a half bad job. She has produced for me a top quality album. Better than the previous three, Northen Star, Reason and Beautiful Intentions. If you look I wrote a review for Beautiful Intentions and I gave it a 9 out of 10 because there were a couple of songs which could have been better. "This Time" though for me is 10 out of 10. I simply cannot pick one fault with this album. It is a true Pop/Indie record, just been out and bought it, sounds amazing. Give it a go, listen to clips on Mel's website.

Track listing and what I think:

Understand - I can see why Mel picked this as an opening track, a hint of sound of Coldplay and Keane in their. Great chorus(which will be repeated many more times)

What If I Stay - The first ballad on the album, very slow song but the lyrics make the song.

Protected - 2nd ballad on the album, simply awesome you really cant say much more about it than that.

This Time - its starts of as a ballad but the chorus is up tempo and it sounds a bit like something you would hear from Kelly Clarkson. Great song

Carolyna - Without a doubt the highlight of all highlights on the album. Red Hot Chilli Peppers would have been proud of this one, sounds so similar to their music. Superb song which has surley got to be released as a single. The album is based around this song. You must hear this song!!!

Forever Again - This song brings back the old sound of Mel, this is a song that could have got onto her 2nd album Reason. The sound is the same the whole way through, until the end where it goes a bit more up tempo and the a jazz sounding end to the song.

Your Mistake - Again a song that could have been on Reason. Very slow start but as Mel breaks into the chorus she up's the tempo. Mel has always had a distinctive voice and you can tell she has still got it, in this song more than most.

The Moment you believe - This song is currently being released in Europe, doing well, check for yourself. You can watch the video on youtube. Sounds a lot like Mel's single released in Europe (First Day Of My Life). This is a great song, it really shows how much Mel C has changed since her previous 3 albums, completely different sound.

Don't Let Me Go - Completely different sound to any other songs on this album, featuring Adam Argyle. This maybe released as a single, duets on an album usually are. The lyrics are good. Good to hear a very new sound for Mel.

Immune - Yet another ballad, good lyrics and a great sound to it, very chilled out song.

May Your Heart - The songs at the end of albums never seem to live up to the rest of the abum, no such problems hear though. Great song and a lot of thought im sure was put into the lyrics.

Out Of Time - Ballad, yes you heard right another one, she keeps on producing these great slow songs, good way to sign off with the ballads. Great ending did not see it coming!

I Want Candy - im sure you have heard this, good song covered for the film of the same name, i like the song, but not the greatest Mel has sung, the rest of the album is nothing like this song. This is more of a sound that was on Beautiful Intentions.

Overall amazing album and it is an amazing chill out album. Give it a go, it's well worth the wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, 19 Nov 2006
This review is from: Nothing In My Way (Audio CD)
Hopes and Fears move along! Keane's 1st album was great but they have produced a masterclass with Under the Iron Sea. Nothing In My Way is superb. I can't stop listening to this song. This is by far my favourite song of there's so far. The lyrics are great the tune is great eveything about it is great! I even had to download it as a ringtone (however sad that may seem). This song is worth buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars I knew she was awsome but she sounds even better live!, 6 Nov 2006
This review is from: Melanie C: Live Hits [DVD] (DVD)
Melanie is back again! This time with all her hits into one amazing DVD. Two superb sets one acoustic and the other electric. Mel performs all her to hits and she performs them in her typical cool way.

Rock to ballad there isn't a song on this DVD to miss! She of course keeps the fans going with her character and lots of energy as you will see.

Melanie's biggest hit across europe First Day of My Life is also performed on this CD and it's a song that you have to check out if you are a Mel C fan and even if your not.

Im a huge Melanie C fan so i don't want to sound as if i am being biast because a lot of people might think that. If you like any of Mel's early hits or recent hits then you must check this out!

More good news as well as you will find out in a 10 minute interview on the extras Melanie says that she is working on her 4th solo album which will be released around spring 07!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great Feeling when you listen to this!, 6 Jun 2006
This review is from: Twelve Stops and Home (Audio CD)
Newcomers of the year, and i reckon newcomers of the last few years. Awsome stuff from the feeling. All it took was one listen to the album and i knew it was great. Here is my view of each song. Ratings i will give out of 5.

1. I want you now 4/5

Great song to open the album with, like most of the songs on the album it has a very catchy chours and the lyrics are perfect. The solo part of the song with the guitar is superb.

2. Never be Lonley 5/5

I think this a really weird song but you have to love it. It seems like it is just one big chorus. There isn't a momment where it goes quiet. And the lead singer show just how much class he has in the main chorus when he literaly starts going crazy with the song.

3. Fill my little world 5/5

This is what The Feeling are all about. This is one of the songs that the album is built around. It maybe cheesy and sound maybe a little bit childish to some people but a catchy chorus means that it is a momment of pure genius. The video is hilariuos aswell, they released the song as their second single and it did really well, making the top 10 i believe it entered at no.7. Great song, it is one of those that can get stuck in your head for ages.

4. Turn the kettle on 2.5/5

Got to say not the best of songs it's ok but a bit boring to be honest not a lot to it. Needed to add a bit more to this song.

5. Sewn 4/5

The first single to be released from the album and once again it reached the top ten, not sure where though. To be honest it took me a few listens on the radio before i got into this song. But once i got into it it was great. One of the slower songs on the album but they show that with this song they can perform a wide range of songs. na na na na na na na na na..... who would have thought that would be so catchy! Great song.

6. Anyone 4/5

Good sond very upbeat which is allways great. Very slow opening but it picks up after about half a minute. good lyrics for this song. im liking it.

7. Strange 6/5

I no ive given it 6 and thats because it is the song of the album . it is a slow sog but it is awsome! The vocals by the lead singer are superb. "We love you all the same" obviously a bit of a love song but the good thing is that it is not to much. Piano plays a big part in this song and the quieter drumming. Towards the end of the song it picks up quite a bit with a louder guitar sound and then it goes back to the chorus. Superb!

8. Love it when you call 5/5

Really great opening, when you here the drums at the begning it sounds like Orson. The lead singer again goes a bit crazy in this song but he shows what a genius he is. really upbeat song a possible single. i think it would do well. Great song.

9. Rose 4/5

Before i had heard any of the album i had heard a loot of good things about this song. listening to it, it took me a few listens to really get into it but now i have it is a great song, very slo again and its all about the piano in this song. hardly any drums. great song.

10. Same old stuff 3/5

Good song not the best on the album very different to the rest of the album. interesting variety of sound to this one.

11. Helicopter 3/5

Again i think towards the end of the album the songs which dont really stand out. the sound seems to go over the vocals at times. ok song.

12. Blue Piccadily 4/5

Good song to end the album on slow song to end the album on. it does pick up witht the sounds of the drums a bit. This song ends on the lead singer repeating Twelve Steps and Home!

Overall a fantastic album. You couldn't ask for much more from a debut album. Great hits on it. There gonna be big for 2006. They are currently on tour aswell if you are interested more info at their website.

Twelve Steps and they are certainly right at home!

(cheesy yeah but it had to be done)
