2.0 out of 5 stars Item not as advertised and poor customer service, 29 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Overall happy with the PC. I am using it as a Music Studio machine. However...

In the item description it specifically states that it has a HDMI output port. That was a specific requirement I was looking for and when it came, I found that there is in fact no HDMI port. Here is an extract from the description on Amazon;
"You can also connect your USB devices easily, thanks to 2 x PS/2 keyboard/Mouse ports, 6 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x RJ45 LAN port, 1 x DVI-D port, 1 x HDMI port, 1 x VGA port. It is provided with PSU size 300 Watts."

I thought it would be unfair to mark down the product on this basis so I contacted Zoostorm directly 12 days ago to advise them and ask them to change in on the site... Email sent below:

Subject:Ordered Zoostorm 7877-0425 from Amazon - ISSUE
Date:Thursday, July 17, 2014 3:51 PM

Hi,

I purchased the above from Amazon last week, on the whole very happy
with the machine. One gripe that I wanted to share with you and a
reason why I won't be able to provide a 5* review on Amazon is as
follows;

The listing states the following;
There are numerous connection options with this PC, including a internal
expansion 1 x PCI-e x 16 slot (free), 2 x PCI-e x 1 slots (free), 4 x
Sata ports (2 free), interfaces 1 set 5.1 channel audio jacks (3 jacks).
You can also connect your USB devices easily, thanks to 2 x PS/2
keyboard/Mouse ports, 6 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x RJ45 LAN port, 1 x DVI-D
port, 1 x HDMI port, 1 x VGA port. It is provided with PSU size 300
Watts.

One of the reasons for my buying this model was that I have a monitor
that (bizarrely) only has HDMI input and I was pleased to see that this
model had the HDMI and that was a clincher for the order.

It arrived with just a DVI-D and VGA port. I overcame the issue by
purchasing a DVI-D to HDMI converter from Amazon. Disappointing for two
reasons, 1. It meant the machine was unusable for a couple of days. 2.
An out of pocket expense I wasn't expecting.

I was going to put a review on Amazon to state this and give a 4* review
as a result. But then thought that I would rather bring to your
attention directly so that you can modify the listing accordingly as I
really don't think a lack of HDMI would mean that this is a 4* purchase.

Hope that is of some help.

Best wishes
Neil Mitchell"

Note that I didn't want to provide a 4* review. So why the 2* review. My email was ignored, Amazon still showing that HDMI is part of the package and I am disappointed that Customer Services at Zoostorm have decided to ignore me.

Beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown away at the photo quality, 3 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very rare that I am moved to write a review, but I have been nervous about buying a photo printer for some time. Here is why... I few years ago I worked somewhere where we had a need on a daily basis to print photos of high quality and at speed. My stakeholder there was somewhat particular about quality and all I remember is almost weekly buying a new printer for the purpose and continued to be disappointed.

I have a DSLR and have set myself a project for 2014 which just means I want to print regularly and trying different effects, so sending off to an online lab isn't an ideal choice. Decided to go and get a printer for myself, grudgingly expecting the worst.

Reading all the reviews I could, I plumped for this and I have to say that the print quality is staggeringly good of photos. The first print I made, i felt that the quality was good, but that the colours appeared a little duller than the original shot. So I went through the process again and found that there is a button in the software titled 'Vivid Photo', I clicked that and wow.

Needless to say, I have it on a very solid surface and am currently using the cartridges that came with the printer and all very good.

I am over the moon with the early results.

Had I had seen these results before buying, I would not have stalled so long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Numan continues to up the game, Best yet?, 15 Oct. 2013
Gary is like no other artist I know. After the flush of early success in his career in the 1979 and early 80's where he was an innovator he kept on keeping on, didn't rest on his laurels. Continuing to make music and search for the next innovation, (by his own admission, he had some miss album's peppered in with the hits) rather than getting on the treadmill of living off his early success or worse still giving up and being remembered for Cars and Are 'Friends' Electric? he has now arrived at Splinter (Songs from a broken mind).

So before thinking about the music, think about that tanacity, a full 35 years after the release of his first album he is still innovating and wanting to do something better than he has done before.

In Splinter he has achieved just that. A really incredible album that demands to be heard over and over. The variety of sounds on the album is the first thing that struck me, it has a sound theme running through it although none of the songs sound 'samey'. The music is strong, hard, rough, heavy whilst being beautiful and fragile. Above all, I find the sound menacing and un-nerving... I am sure that Movie Producers in Hollywood will listen and be calling on Gary soon. Numan's vocals are as good as ever and I am even hearing things in his voice that he hasn't tried before, a real delight and demonstration of a new found confidence.

This is not an album where it is easy to pull out a stand out track, they are all stand out and with the variety that I mention above, to call out one is to ignore another.

A tour de force. I would go as far as to say, his best yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Great - A Unique Talent, 19 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was fortunate enough to see Siouxsie on this tour in both Wolverhampton and Oxford and was blown away with the quality of what I experienced. I have been checking for details of the release of the Live DVD from the Koko ever since and today it arrived (thanks Amazon!).

This DVD is wonderfully produced and packaged with an insert containing some great shots of Siouxsie on stage. The video and sound quality are great and I now feel like I missed out big time! Siouxsie played so many more tracks at the Koko and there was even an interval!

Watching it tonight, I have just been grinning from ear to ear, no one performs like Siouxsie and she defies her age with those high kicks and splits. The theatrics of her movement on stage is just mesmerising as she brings her music to life and is ably supported by a very together band.

If you liked Siouxsie and the Banshees get this, you will love it.
If you want to know what Punk was like, get this and see this pioneer at work.
If you were there on the Mantaray tour I am certain you have already ordered your copy.
If you are curious and reading this review, get it!

I look forward to watching this all again at the weekend, with the curtains shut, the lights off and the sound cranked up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A shockingly great film, 17 Oct. 2008
This review is from: The Happening [DVD] [2008] (DVD)
Well I have seen the comments of others on the site and agree with a lot I have read. I have just got off of a flight where I watched this and was totally enthralled by the whole film... Yes, Mark Wahlberg is a bit wooden but that does not take away from the great set pieces in this film.

My wife and I have discussed it a lot since we have seen it and have both been moved by different elements of the film. I think this film is different from anything I have seen before and am very pleased to have seen it. Will also purchase when released on DVD.

Give it a go...

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Stuff, 26 Feb. 2004
This review is from: Writers on Writing (Paperback)
For a budding writer, there is nothing more inspiring than to hear how the experts go about it. Ms Gibbs seems to have found the perfect balance in the style of writers she selected and the methods they employ to turn their dreams into reality.
With such fantastic construct, I look forward to seeing some fiction writing from Alison Gibbs in the future.
Don't think about it, buy it.
