Star Wars: X-Wing: Mercy Kill
Star Wars: X-Wing: Mercy Kill
by Aaron Allston
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

2.0 out of 5 stars dull milking of the x wing franchise, 7 Jan. 2015
very dull star wars novel , unoriginal with a plot that confuses itself at times and relies on fans of the X wing series to carry it , wheeling out some old faces with little development. slow paced and involving the action seems better placed in a spy movie lacking the epic scale or swashbuckling feel of star wars. by half way through I didnt care who won or who survived just as long as it ended

4.0 out of 5 stars a great tale of the hersey, 2 Sept. 2013
one of the best Horus Hersey books I have read with a gripping tale and great interaction between the Iron warriors and Emperors Children and their Primarchs , Perturabo is very nicely portrayed (with a full and complex character not just bolter porn) and despite being a villain you have real empathy for him and the real contrast of Fulgrim who has been now fallen deeply to chaos. Fulgrims excess and hedonist legion is portrayed well and various famous characters are shown in detail (at times very grisly detail) some twists and turns and some very interesting good guys too with insights into survivors from 2 loyalist legions following the drop site massacre, for the gamers among you several you will be itching to model and convert after reading this. Adds some real background to fans of this period which I cant go into detail without spoiling the story but I was gripped all the way through.

5.0 out of 5 stars dark terror in depths of space, 12 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a superb resource for any Deathwatch game master, the action is dark and desperate and face paced among the mortis thule a previously mentioned space hulk. The campaign is very school RPG with a variety of linked missions which bounce the players from one desperate race against time to another. Facing a variety of challegenes and a diverse range of foes (some fantastic profiles for enemies old and new , including eldar and orks and much worse) with some real tough chocies for the players every step along the way. I cant wait to run this with my players giving them and exciting challegne the likes of which they will have not faced.
The book also has a random mission generator , encounters , obsticales , calamites and discoveries making it a great tool for running a whole series of sessions in a space hulk far beyond the excellent narrative presented , the random encounter tables take me fondly back to my Ad+d 2nd ed days with classics like the ruins of under mountain, think of this as not just a mission but a mini campaing setting superb !

4.0 out of 5 stars An earthy read, 20 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
an excellent wood elf novel giving a really good feel for the tree huggers and the spirit of Orion unleshed in all his fury. Some good characters which will hopefully develop further in the next two novels and some good action sequences vs an army of chaos beasts. The story telling was atmospheric but the story started to stall towards the later stages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, 3 Mar. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Predators (2010) [DVD] (DVD)
A real Homage to the orginal film, little plot but great one liners and good action with some interesting ideas. Much better than Predator 2 this is a modern take on asequel , the hero is totally ruthless and pragmatic with great oneliners , the ensemble cast of various psychos and killers are there as cannon fodder but hey its a predator movie what do you expect ! A few simple twists and an ending that leaves the way open for a sequel

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent follow up to Grey seer, 29 Nov. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a well written and engaging book, once more the paranoid and self obsessed Thanquol is back on good form, this time dodging clan Eshin assassins, undead pirates and Skink priests in the depths of the Lustrian jungles. Thanquol is less inept than in greyseer and shows that he is a wizard of no small power and cunning and as a character is developing nicely. The plot is interesting with several unexpected twists and turns and is also a good read for those who are a fan of warhammer lizardmen and the Slann giving a good insight of the strange and alien mind of the Slann.
The human characters are nicely written and engaging with their own motivations and desires with a vivid back drop of Lustria. If you are not familar with the warhammer world , the Skaven, the Slann and Thanquol then this book could be hard to follow, for those Fans of the scheming Rat mage this book is a must

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 24 Nov. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having recently returned from the Hudson Bay to watch Polar bears and British Colombia to watch Grizzelys I wanted to learn more and be reminded of the trip. The films on this dvd are disappointing with very little information about the animals and their lifestyle, some of the images are fantastic but the polar bear especially quickly becomes repetative and the overly dramatic voice over does little to impresses. Maybe I have been spoilt by the quality of BBC wildlife dvds but I would avoid this one

5.0 out of 5 stars keeps them quiet for hours!, 4 Oct. 2005

This is a god send if you have little ones that want to be entertained. 2 hours of some great tv for little ones, bob the builder, Pingu, fireman sam, barney , the wiggles and many more. one nice feature is subtitles which is great for helping the little ones to read or sing along. You can also make it play episodes at random or pcik your favorite. My little girl has watched the episode of the wiggles so many times it has nearly driven me mad. Well worth it
