5.0 out of 5 stars One of its kind!, 31 May 2013

This is my absolute favourite book between "shades of grey", "sylvia day" and any other erotic novels.

It is unique in that you have - finally (!) - a woman who is smart, educated, independent, has dreams and can go for them rather than some "virginic wall flower" that awaits her prince.

Although it has all of the usual elements such as "mind blowing sex", "rich and handsome, problematic super man", beautiful locations etc it is fun to read due to the female character being a strong woman and deciding for herself how to handle this sort of man and actually follows through rather than "go/cry/wait for a response".

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for any woman, 31 May 2013

This book is written in a compassionate and not aggressive style encouraging women to follow what they wish to do without patronising women who choose to become full time mothers. It is a must read for any woman from the age of 12 and I have shared it with friends and my own daughter. it is a good read for men who may be thinking about staying at home but lack the courage to do so due to society pressure. it is encouraging for women who may wish to stay on in their jobs but feel society will be against them if they choose a career path.

It does highlight inequality in many areas which still exist between men and women in the work place today as well as at home and wishes for women to accept each others choices and for men to step up on the home front but also be free to choose a more unconventional path.

Sheryl highlights the fact that we still have too few women on the top levels in management and in politics and believes addressing this gender gap will lead to a more balanced society with more choices.

She hopes more women will "lean in" and give it all before deciding to step back rather than to "pre decide on how to manage motherhood" as they wont have as much to go for by the time they have kids and could be coming back to an interesting/challenging job.

Our 11 year old daughter loves this book and it's an excellent way to communicate important matters from "an independent source" rather than Mum or Dad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our society is clearly in change - which way will we go? Shorter (honest) marriages or longer open marriages?, 8 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is intriguing. it is worth reading even if you disagree or believe that sometimes the author may exaggerate small examples and extrapolates them to more frequent occurances in our society whereby he claims that humans lived longer in open formations with various sexual partners than what is widely believed..

Have you also wondered why it seems right that the divorce rate is 40%, men cheat by 65%/women by 40%, divorces cost a fortune and a few years later the "newly married" will probably run into the same difficulty yet again and yet - WE dont change this pattern??

Will we adopt the American pattern of shorter marriages where we are "honest and monogam" or the "longer lasting open marriage" (maybe a more French approach?).
