4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best album ever but the best Sha-na-na album!, 6 Nov 2013

This review is from: Night Is Still Young (Audio CD)
When you see the rest iof the Sha-na-na catalogue you could be forgiven for thinking they were simply a rock 'n' roll covers band. This album disproves that but unfortunatley, despite a cracking single in 'Bounce In Your Buggy', the haunting 'Sunday Morning Radio', the wistful 'Sleeping on a Song' and a handful of other top notch songs, the group returned to 'covers only mode' after recording this album.

That said, this album does boast one of the best covers of Sea Cruise I've ever heard.

This a genuine oddity in their canon and one to be appreciated.

There are a lot of cut and paste Bolan DVDs out there but this isn't one of them. Well researched and compiled, it tells Marc's story from before the start to after the end. My only gripe is there's an awful lot of Tyrannosaurus Rex then the Glam years don;t get quite so much detail. Maybe the producers thought we'd already know that part of the story but it leaves this DVD sadly wanting.

Good to see Tony Visconti talk us through some of the multi-track master tapes and get to hear each track.
Steve Harley's comments are worth the price alone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good looking but lightweight., 2 Jun 2013

This watch looks great and for the price it is good value but it is light and not very sturdy. Be careful when closing the cover and the back plate fell off of the one I got. Easy enough to clip it back in place but be careful.

If you're looking for a film about Don Quixote, this is not the one for you. If however, you're looking for a film that documents the trials of a team trying to overcome what sometimes seem like insurmountable odds to bring a dream to the screen, then there is no better than this.

I'd like to say it was a joy to watch but in truth joy only got a small part of the screen time, alongside, pain, illness, natural disaster and palpable frustration, to name but a few of the diverse elements. This is much more real than any of the docu-soaps with which we're being constantly bombarded.

If you have no idea what it takes to bring a film from book to screen, than this is well worth watching and I for one (and I'm sure there are many others) look forward to the day Terry Gilliam realises his vision and we can all watch the film, not just the documetary.

These earbuds certainly look the part but the description says "Extreme Deep Basse Ports deliver ultimate bass sound" and that simply is not the case.

The tops and mids are fine & clear but there is almost no bass end. My old HedKandi earbuds give a much beefier sound.

So, money wasted but lesson learned.

If you're buying this album for the original hit 'Morning Dance' look elswhere. The version on this disc is live and not the original but you have to dig deep into the sleeve notes to find that out as it isn't mentioned in the track listing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the One Star Reviews and check out the cast!, 10 Oct 2010
This review is from: Tutti Frutti [DVD] (DVD)
Some people just like to bitch!

Alien Reg seems to want his dramas to be happy and uplifting. This one isn't - it is realistic, but it has some absolutely cracking humour even if it does revolve around the theme of non-communication and its effects on peoples lives.

M.A.Brown probably bought Mamma Mia. Tutti Frutti is a drama with a background in music, not a poor excuse of a story cobbled to fit around hit songs.

As for A. Withers - I'm really not sure what accent they expected from a drama about a Scottish band set in Scotland.

Tutti Frutti takes its own sweet time to get where it is going. If that worries you then don't buy it but you'll miss some of the best solo performances and ensemble acting ever aired on Brit telly. Oh and Tam White's vocals as well - icing on the cake.

1.0 out of 5 stars Noisy, annoying and not what you need., 2 Dec 2008
We don't need all the bells and whistles or lights and screens, we just need to hear if Junior makes a noise so we went for this basic unit. Unfortunately our house (not an old one) seems to be the intergalactic gathering place for static.

No matter where we place the parent unit, we get a very annoying continual crackling noise. Only way to minimise it (but not remove it) is to switch off everything electrical - which makes for such a boring evening we'd be better upstairs watching Junior.

Even when we managed to get the static levels lowered we could hardly hear any baby noises because this system just isn't that sensitive.

From the other reviews it seems that some people have no trouble at all with these things but the only way to be sure is to have an electrical technician check the noise levels on your house mains. I'm guessing it would be cheaper just to buy a more expensive system.
