5.0 out of 5 stars anker knocks it out yet again with another fantastic product, 2 Jan 2014
first off, i was sent this product from Anker to beta test, but has no bearing or personal bias whatsoever.

Now, i have the 4 port hub and i was astonished!!

appearance: i have an iMac, so everything on my desk is aluminum, and styles the same, so when i got this beaute in the mail, i was pleasantly surprised at how much this fits into not only th apple styling, but everything else as well! its about the size of a credit card, but about 2 inches thick. The back end is higher up than the front, so its easier to see the ports, which is a HUGE plus. Its also got a green status light. the ports are spaced out enough, so that items with bulky connectors won't hit, and i haven't had an issues with that. it also has velcro so you can, as an option, velcro it down to the table. i have it velcroed down, and it does an okay job at holding the hub down. sadly though, if you try to pull a connector off too fast, the hub has a tendency to rip off its velcro base.

performance: short story: i was shocked. long story: i have one laptop that has usb 3.0, but it won't give me data transfer speeds, but i have noticed that it stays true to the 3.0 speeds. even when i have two hard drives plugged in and transferring data at the same time, i hardly notice a difference in speed. on the 2.0 side of things, i have a750gb hard drive that i converted into a backup for my photography. normally, ill pull about 4.5mb/s with just plugging it into my laptop, however, with it plugged into the hub, i got speeds of 20mb/s. i didn't think that could happen, but heck, thanks to the folks at anker, i can now move data faster. Its not powered, which means its limited in how much power it can send out to each device, so powering an iPad with it while running a hard drive won't work. But i was yet again surprised. this time i had my laptop on its own power, and plugged the hub in. I went all out and plugged my GS4, an 8gb flash drive, 750gb powered hard drive(meaning it has to be plugged into an outlet to work), and a 320 gb portable hard drive. Not only did it power all of them, i was able to transfer data between all 4 of them at once,

overall, i highly recommend this, especially to anyone who has to constantly reach around for usb ports. its a great, stylish way to enhance and simplify usb.
