The fact that this is four stars and not five is perhaps unfair but due to personal tastes in music. The early albums feature the Roberta Flack I recognise. In the last two of the series it is still very much her but some of the material is far more forgettable and though Roberta does it very well not much stands out in the same way as earlier work. However, I also recognise that someone else might have discovered her later than I did perhaps through this later work and it may be this that holds the greater appeal for them. So four stars not on the basis of recording quality or performance but on grounds of musical taste.
In an age where you are not sure you are hearing the real voice of the artist and not one that has been comped from a dozen takes then autotuned, EQ'd and compressed to deliver maximum sound pressure rather than reveal quality hearing a real singer who understands voice control and projection is refreshing. Yes, you expect to find these qualities in classical and operatic recordings and Roberta's command owes much to her training but the world of popular music in its many sub-divided genres is not rich in natural talent placing much reliance on the manufacturing processes to get a decent sound. Roberta Flack cuts right through that mix with little more than a captivating voice and sparse arrangement that will never be out of style.
Five stars for value and recommended to aspiring next generation singers to show them how it's done.

Sometimes an idea comes along that performers, great in their own right, might be even better together often because they try to outdo each other. It does not always work but in this case it does thanks largely to the fact that they seem to have enjoyed working together which must have made it easier for Wilberg to keep them working as one. It comes across. Both the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Bryn Terfel could easily hold their own with these pieces that, it has to be said, are not especially difficult for performers of their experience. Where it really works is where, if you listen to the choir on their own you may sometimes think that a different arrangement might be possible if there was just a good enough solo voice to carry it off. Well, they are here. Although Bryn gets the lions share of the solo voice, Sissel and Tamara Mumford also get their chance to perform.
I would give six stars if Sissel had been given more scope. If she was going to be on the recording anyway why not allow one of the finest and most versatile female voices of our time to contribute more. Sissel is so much more than Titanic. If you don't know her listen to Northern Lights as an introduction then explore her other work.

It arrived within a few days, well packed and in excellent condition and slotted straight in to the Samsung Galaxy S2. Use within the phone appears seamless. I've shot video in very fast moving and colourful situations and it's fine. It does what it says and the supplier is one from whom I would buy again. Beyond that, what can I say; it's a tiny chip not a work of art. Unless you have critical applications that need the very fastest memmory then this should be fast enough for most things but do check. I looked at the various speed charts and recommendations and in the end this was a good balance between speed hence performance and cost. No regrets; it just works.
