Yellow Rust - North Korean Revenge
Yellow Rust - North Korean Revenge
Price: £0.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good story with a twist, 12 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A well written book, very well researched with lots of detail to make it interesting, the weapons, the places and technical details gave the book great balance. The book all comes together in the final quarter for a riveting read that was hard to put down. The final outcome was unexpected and built to a crescendo. Although a novel its realism was excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good football biography, 9 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sandy's book is quite good because it is the story of a professional footballer from the start of his career to his days in management. It is a good read and holds up well in a very competitive area of football biographies. I enjoyed reading it and have no major complaints. Would be interesting if it was to be brought up to date as the story has not yet reached its conclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a heavy book to read, entertaining stuff., 4 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not a bad book to be able to dip in and out of. It is interesting because anyone that has gone to watch a football match at any level has probably witnessed strange goings on in the technical areas but we don't have the insight into why these strange goings on occur, but this book lifts the lid. Like many I have witnessed mass brawls when one team delays the ball going back into play, I once saw a manager grab a player by the throat and pin him to the back of the dugout perhaps he forgot the dugout was Perspex! The book is easy to read and doesn't tax much, it is tales and that's what us football fans want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting insight and well written book., 4 Nov. 2015

A good book written by a vastly underrated footballer, there is more to John McGovern than his neat style of play and his unusual running style. Gives a good insight into life at the top and bottom of the football ladder.

The Good, the Mad and the Ugly The Andy Morrison Story
The Good, the Mad and the Ugly The Andy Morrison Story

5.0 out of 5 stars What an insight, 10 Sept. 2015

A great read Andy tells it as it was warts and all. Not a book laced with sugar candy, doesn't matter what team you follow it is a true reflection of a person. Loved the stories about confronting gobby sods who think they can abuse someone with no consequences. A character to say the least. If you are lauded by fans of clubs you played for you can't be doing much wrong, fans love a trier even if things don't work out well, they appreciate effort and commitment.

Slim Jim: Simply the Best
Slim Jim: Simply the Best

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book., 10 Sept. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I can't understand some of the criticism from other reviewers but they bought the book and are entitled to their opinions. I was too young to have seen Jim play but I have watched the 1967 Scotland victory in its entirety this book tells the story of the man behind the game. So many ex colleagues help give an insight into Jim Baxter, the book flowed well. I would recommend it because it is a warts and all story of a true football star not an overpaid over rated footballer of today's game. Buy it you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like football history this is a book for you., 25 Jun. 2015

This is the second book abut Jock Wallace I have read and it has helped give a more rounded view of the man. This book helped to show what a great manager Jock was, there was much more to Jock than the gruff jungle fighter portrayed by the media, much more than the sound bites of "we have the battle fever on". The book is warm in its approach, it is not sycophantic in its presentation it is an honest review of Jock's life, playing career and management years. It is worth a read not just for Rangers fans but all football fans who like to know the history of someone regardless of club allegiances. It is the story of a man with drive, passion and humanity, superbly written.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book about a giant of Sottish football, 28 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very good book, David Leggat's book is excellent because it blows away the myth that Jock Wallace was a gruf veteran jungle fighter who was a fitness fanatic. This book shows that there was much more to Jock Wallace than the public perception. A book that is difficult to put down shows how good it was. Fascinating insights into Jock Wallace, a must read for anyone interested in Scottish football regardless of the team they support.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read, 14 April 2015

This is quite an interesting book, it does recount a personal story rather than centre on the Family as a whole. Well written and flows well. Well worth a read.
