Very good value, in town something equivalent would cost at least three times what I paid for this item. Quality appears good. I could recommend

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like football history this is a book for you., 25 Jun. 2015

This is the second book abut Jock Wallace I have read and it has helped give a more rounded view of the man. This book helped to show what a great manager Jock was, there was much more to Jock than the gruff jungle fighter portrayed by the media, much more than the sound bites of "we have the battle fever on". The book is warm in its approach, it is not sycophantic in its presentation it is an honest review of Jock's life, playing career and management years. It is worth a read not just for Rangers fans but all football fans who like to know the history of someone regardless of club allegiances. It is the story of a man with drive, passion and humanity, superbly written.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book about a giant of Sottish football, 28 April 2015

A very good book, David Leggat's book is excellent because it blows away the myth that Jock Wallace was a gruf veteran jungle fighter who was a fitness fanatic. This book shows that there was much more to Jock Wallace than the public perception. A book that is difficult to put down shows how good it was. Fascinating insights into Jock Wallace, a must read for anyone interested in Scottish football regardless of the team they support.

This is quite an interesting book, it does recount a personal story rather than centre on the Family as a whole. Well written and flows well. Well worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great read, 13 Feb. 2015

I thoroughly enjoyed A Bhoy Called Bertie. A great insight into Bertie's carrer, his feelings were shown, opinions given and I gained an insight into Bertie the footballer and his views about football. There are stories in abundance ranging from childhood, early playing career the glory years at Celtic and Bertie's time in management. This book is worth a read, it tells the story of a player who played for glory not financial reward as it was not available. I think the book shows Bertie's love of the game of football.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book, 5 Nov. 2014

A good read, more of a personal journey which makes it interesting. The details about games are short and concise it is more about the backgrounds to games and the club's that Tommy worked for. I thought that the beginning when Tommy tells the story about his mother being doorstepped by a reporter following the death of his father did show how people who work in football are not viewed by the media as people but as stories with no thought about the person's feelings. This book is well worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book about a fantastic football adventure., 8 Oct. 2014

If you want to read about a small provincial football team having its day in the sun then this is the book for you. It is well written with plenty of recollections from those involved. You know the outcome when you start it but the story of a Raith Rovers wining a major trophy is compelling. It is hard book to put down because of the quality of the writing. Don't start this book when you need to do other things you can't put it down. It is in the same league as Glory in Gothenburg which I loved. Scottish football has so many compelling football books, what Scottish football lacks in comparison to the English Premier league is made up for by the fantastic stories about Scottish Football both players and teams. Unthinkable is in the semi finals of the Champions League. Well done Steven Lawther.
