This was an impulse buy to say the least. The first couple of listens were interesting and strangely enjoyable although I wasn't sure what to make of it. Now I'm completely hooked. It's definitely one of those albums that grows on you (as most of the best ones do). I would say this sppeals more to the real music fan as opposed to the casual radio listener who owns the odd greatest hits album.
Ecclectic, estatic & grandiose - this album tries to take you on a journey, and amazingly it succeeds. One of those albums that you always want to put on track 1 and sit back instead of skipping tracks. Despite having a large range of styles it flows together really well. If you like rich soundscapes then I would highly recommend this album.
Warning - if you listen to this album in a car, you feel like something might happen to you!

I saw each of these tours and was actually in the audience for the Cosmic Jam show (my first Bill Bailey gig). They are all great DVD's to own - especially Cosmic Jam & Part Troll (his best tour to date). Although Bewilderness isn't as consistently good, there are still moments of brilliance. Bill Bailey is simply the greatest comedian out there at the moment and this is one heck of a collection to own.

Even for a casual horror fan like me, this is simply a fantastic product - not just for Halloween, but all year round!

The concept behind this box set is great - invite some mates round, light the candles, read the horror stories to the creepy music, and then you'll have your own instant scary atmosphere. It's prefect for this type of party, but what makes this product unique is high level of quality in each element:

Music CD - highly atmoshperic & very creepy. Kind of like every classic horror movie score condensed onto one CD.

FX CD - great for pranks & if you enjoy scaring your friends half to death! They've included a load of prank ideas to get you going.

Stories - most of them are quite well known urban legend classics. Great for telling round the campfire (and then you can hide the FX CD behind a tree!!!)

Photography - Mostly by one of my favourite photographers - Simon Marsden.

Games - I haven't played Murder in the Dark for years. This is a revamped version for adults. Good fun - especially with the soundtrack CD playing.

Extras in the book - some enjoyable additions e.g. Ghost Hunting Tips, Best Horror Movies, Maps showing the most haunted places, etc.

The thing I love about the box set, is that there's nothing graphic or obvious in it. It's very atmospheric & gets right under your skin - just like the best horror movies.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Bedtime Album for Kids, 25 Nov 2004
This review is from: Lullaby (Audio CD)
As a parent I've bought loads of bedtime music for my kids and they all drive me nuts with their irritating & twee arrangements. This album is world away from that. Sophie Barker's soothing voice is perfect & the musical arrangements are mellow & even help sending me to sleep!
I have a 1 year old boy and 3 year old girl and this album works perfectly for both. It makes them instantly calm and sends them to sleep really quickly.
Steer clear of all the other dreadful nursey rhyme albums. For the sake of your own sanity, get this one!
