5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 27 Dec. 2005
This album is great, every song is incredible. The curse of feanor is amazing and the one i would recommend for a sample, that or mirror mirror. I am writing this review on the assumption that if you have come this far, you could not possibly be stupid enough not to buy this album. It is absolutely mint.

Pretty much all that needs saying. An utterly flawless album, great melodic and heavy guitaring, harsh vocals, blistering drumming and perfectly placed fast melodic solos. From the onset its remarkable, the first track very well characterising the rest of the album. Reaching a pinnacle for me right at the end with laments of a mortal soul, super heavy, super quick, awesome solo - wow.
The bonus disk is good if u get it, i particularly like the star breaker cover, gives you an idea of their sound before the new female vocalist.
The pace slows only a few times in this album and the times it does, it is for good reason.
By far my favourite album ever

1.0 out of 5 stars not good, 27 Dec. 2005

I only own Alive in Athens (a live compilation) and this, and i was very dissapointed with this.
The band seems to have lost the gritty edge i loved and the vocals are all the high screams with no gruff vocals to contrast. It does have a few good solos which put a smile on my face but i felt the whole album is 'hyper-pro-american' the first track is the stars and stipes and is terrible. overall i would stick to the older stuff- or maybe check out demons and wizards as they (being partly iced earth) capture alot of the older heaviness and you get the bonus of having hansi from blind guardian in there on the vocals.
