This book is fantastic for anyone who likes classic gothic imagery. A touch of history, a touch of magic - very evocative. So good, I bought another copy for my friends birthday. Great!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not classic Rowan Atkinson, 26 April 2011
I grew up on a diet of Monty Python, Black Adder and Red Dwarf - These were all really great series. I even found Mr Bean funny, but this, sadly, I just don't get. All the jokes are led up to so slowly that I was just glad to get it over with?! The writing seemed more on a par with Little & Large rather than the skill and ironic humour I expected from such a great comedian, so if you skip this and stick to his other stuff, you won't miss out on anything!

5.0 out of 5 stars Blutengel at their best!, 3 April 2011
This review is from: Tränenherz (MP3 Download)
Firstly, its worth getting both albums... these are excellent. The album has a vaguely 80's goth feel to it but they are like a 'Best of... collection' because there aren't really any dud tracks throughout both albums. The quality of the songs is just fantastic, iconic and very, very listenable. I'm still listening to this exclusively after two months. The songs 'Ordinary Darkness' and 'Soul in Isolation' are great, and there is a good balance between male and female voices. Also the quality of the singing is the best ever - real quality, so have a listen, buy the album - you won't regret it!

I didn't think this would be my kind of album.. But its one of those that has such a variety of work, that the songs that hook you keep changing the more you listen to it! Its an emotional roller-coaster and i cannot recommend it highly enough! The album ranges from studio music, to pagan rock, from 'Sharpe' style folk to all out alternative anarchist anthems! Its just great stuff and you have to hear it for yourself! Enjoy!

Michael Palin - Palin on Art [DVD]

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining & Interesting, 2 April 2011

I really enjoyed this. Three artists are looked at, for myself, i was impressed by the first; Wilhelm Hammershoi. loved this. The Scottish Colourists episode was very interesting, and even though I wouldn't have been interested in Anne Redpath, Palin made it engaging. ...Not as good as 'How Art made the World' - but excellent all the same.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, 6 Jan. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book starts off feeling quite clumsy, as if Dennis Wheatley came up with a great idea and then spends too long patching the holes in the plot. However, it soon gets into full swing and is a really enjoyable adventure story with, as usual, plenty of food for thought. I often find a lot to think about after reading one of his books, especially as they fly in the face of modern conventions so much. Excellent read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beltane Fire, 9 Jun. 2010

Some albums just happen to sum up who you were and how you felt about life at a given time - This is one of those albums. For me there will never be another like it. The other reviews give a greater idea of the type and quality of the music so all I can say is, if you can sense that world of myth and magic that stands just around the corner, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 25 April 2010

I picked up this book having read many of Colleen McCullough's 'Master's of Rome' series (which I would also thoroughly recommend) and found this one a real page turner! I have read very few historical novels that keep you hooked from page to page and I read this and its sequel (Captain of Rome) within a week. So while I understand that more knowledgeable people than I will pick up on some minor points, I would definitely recommend this as a gripping piece of historical adventure. Really one of the best in a long time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Confused?, 18 Feb. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Just in case anyone is as confused as I was about this... Season Four is split in two halves - this is the first half, followed by 'The Final season'. Its fantastic, as all the others have been.

Don't bother getting 'Razor' separately either as it is on the first disc of this box set! Enjoy!
