4.0 out of 5 stars Hitchens tells us how it is in Britain today, 24 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book confirms how you feel going about your daily business is todays Britain. If you are are over thirty then this book will resonate. I think he is right, you do feel fear and those on high do not seem to be listening. It is an interesting perspective from Peter no matter what your politics. He has lived in Russia like Malcolm Muggeridge before him and became disheartend with the whole system. He has put together a well researched book full of insights on our great country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great if you are on a housing course, 21 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are you are on a housing course then there are some very good chapters on the subject that can enhance your essays. A little controversial in places, written from a somewhat right wing perspective, but valid thought provoking arguments presented.
I noticed he was not on the reading list on my C.I.H. Diploma.
Some good references that can add to your work.
Also well priced as most housing books cost a fortune.
I found the book really interesting - thinking outside usual constraints.

5.0 out of 5 stars An honest account of one mans life and T.M., 20 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The main thing that struck me about this book is the honesty of the author.
Jon really engages the reader in his life events. He falls hopelessly in Love, discovers Transendental Meditation and meets the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and works for the organisation as teacher of the technique.
Its really worth a read as there is great deal of information on meditation and the T.M. organisation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sinatra at his best, 20 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Here Sinatras voice sounds wonderful with beautiful arrangments by the finest arrangers of the time. The September of My Years album is about loss and coming to terms with age and Sinatra not only displays this in each song on the album but tells us a story.
The Moonlight Sinatra is theme album and the whole concept works. Frank moves through the songs with great confidence and warmth.
Sinatra Swings does what the title track tells us and is a power house of an album. Its great to listen to when you need a lift as the energy of the songs really comes over.
Overall Frank Sinatra at his most commanding and top of his game on these three albums which are very competively priced.

4.0 out of 5 stars Paul Doing What He Does Best!, 20 May 2010
This review is from: Amoeba's Secret (Audio CD)
Paul plays this set in whats sounds like a small location. He covers Beatle, Wings and solo numbers. He really sounds committed and enjoying himself while the audience are loving it. There is a geat version of C Moon but really the whole album is great. The great talent that Paul has is to interpret his classic numbers in a new vibrant way that still shows new generations what a great singer and song writer he is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Paul in 1971, 19 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Ram (Audio CD)
This is a great album with Paul opening with the Too Many People track, which he still plays in concerts today. He moves through the album singing and playing in many different styles. The album stands the test of time and he is not afraid to experiment by using different instruments. In fact I have never heard an album like it, it really does stand out amongst the solo albums he has recorded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs given the David Essex Treatment, 19 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Cover Shot (Audio CD)
This album has well thought out arrangments of classic pop tracks from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The album at the time was a success and David followed it up with another very good album called "Back to Back". There are some great versions on this C.D. like Everlasting Love and Here Comes the Night. He has a unique voice and delivery, which have ensured him a loyal following over the years. This album stands the test of time as it was recorded back in 1993 but still sounds good with his unique voice in fine form.

5.0 out of 5 stars David Essex the 1970s, 16 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
David Essex is a great singer and has written many unique songs over the years. There are examples of his fine song writing and singing on these two albums. He has a blues voice essentially with an edge, danger and even darkness, when you listen to less commercially accepted songs. I always loved the New Horizon track and thought that should have really been a single. He opened with it at Margate Winter Gardens in 1979 on a British tour and thought then what great number. The Gold and Ivory album is a diverse mixture of styles and he really produced and sang on a great record. He wrote the songs himself.
All the fun of the fair was a massive hit in the album charts back in 1975 containing "hold me close" and "if I could" both big hits, hold me close was No 1 in the single charts, which David still sings now in his yearly concerts.
These songs from the 1970s really stand up well and sound even better on C.D.
Also, he sings a fantastic version of "Stay with me baby", which was a single in 1978 - very powerful, should have been No (1) in the single charts that is included in this two C.D. set.
These two albums provide very good value for money if you are a fan of Davids music then I recommend this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Big Country - Timeless, 9 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a terrific C.D. full of a great sweeping orchestral sound with great energy and statement of purpose.
This soundtrack is majestic and uplifting.
The quality of the recording is top notch so no worries there.
I can't really praise it enough - buy it you won't be disappointed.
I would add this CD version is the orginal music from the Film.
