5.0 out of 5 stars Christy Moore - Folk Tale, 27 Dec. 2011
This review is from: Folk Tale (Audio CD)
Another cracker from Christy, as we have come to expect over the past forty years - all hit and very little miss. The production is incredibly good, only magnifying Christy's talent - his voice has improved and matured with age.

Just to review a few of the highlights, 'Tyrone Boys' is a wonderful reflection upon the present state of the Irish nation, including references to the return of the spectre of emigration, while harking back to the Papal Visit of 1979, the death of Anne Lovett, and the murder of Aiden MacAnespie, among others. 'Folk Tale', adapted from a poem by Paula Meehan, has a beauty of its own - Christy's voice at point is enough to bring a shiver down your spine. 'My Little Honda 50' is a pleasant wee ditty, which you'll no doubt be singing away to yourself for weeks. A long awaited revisit to the old Planxty number 'Farmer Michael Hayes' is another highlight, Gerry O'Connor's banjo playing adding a lovely touch to it. My undoubted overall favourite track on the album is the final one, 'God Woman' - Christy begins his note flysheet by saying simply, 'This is how it all happened' - hopefully you'll soon see for yourself.
