The Blade Itself: The First Law: Book One
The Blade Itself: The First Law: Book One
Price: 4.99

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning - no ending!, 21 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although this first part of the First Law trilogy is quite an entertaining read, you need to be warned. The saga becomes progressively more contrived and tedious through the next two books. Resulting in the most unsatisfying ending in the history of literature. After 2000 pages you will end up with no idea what happened to the main characters and with no clue as to how the saga ends. It is as if Mr Abercrombie tore up the last 10 chapters of the story and threw them in the bin.
When I reached the 'end' of the third book, Last argument of Kings, I was disappointed, angry and frustrated. Be warned, embark on this trilogy and you will probably feel the same!

1.0 out of 5 stars Where is the ending?, 21 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I can only think that deadline day arrived for Mr Abercrombie's book, so he just stopped where he was.
Surely this can be the only explanation for the lack of any attempt at an ending. No loose ends are tied up, no idea of where the story may go, nothing approaching a satisfactory conclusion is reached.
A trilogy that, 2000 pages ago, started quite promisingly became progressively more tedious and repetitive, until it limped to its wildly unsatisfactory conclusion.
If you fancy a story that feels as though someone has ripped out and thrown away the last hundred pages, this could be for you. Otherwise, steer clear!

What a wonderful set of songs - not a duff track.
Bruce Springsteen for the 2010's.
If you have any musical taste at all you need to own this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst ..., 22 Mar 2013
Have owned many printers, but this is by far the worst. Refuses to feed paper straight resulting in lopsided prints. Regularly creases the paper. Regularly gives ink smears on my prints. Drinks ink at an alarming rate. Is outrageously noisy.
Apart from that - I love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prog rock returns!!, 27 Oct 2006

The 1970's - with a 2006 twist.

Pomp rock, prog rock, concept album - you thought that was all a thing of the past- well it's back.

The Black Parade is Green Day meets Queen - and a great deal of fun it is too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surely not the end....., 3 Sep 2004

What a glorious single from the magnificent Easyworld, but (and I really hope I am reading too much into this) it sounds like a tearful goodbye. Could we really be deprived of stunning pop music such as this by a split .... I hope not!

5.0 out of 5 stars Potential fulfilled, 21 April 2004
'This is where I stand' was a good album - showing Easyworld as a bandwith huge potential.
With the new album that potential is realised.
This is a 100% cast iron masterpiece without a duff track on it.
Dav Ford deserves to be a superstar - he has the voice of an angel - andhis words can reduce you to tears.
How the mediocrity of bands such as Coldplay and Travis can shift millionsand the sheer magnificence of Easyworld is still a well kept secret, isbeyond me.
Buy this - you will love it - I guarantee it!
