Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 4.2 g, Pink in the Afternoon
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 4.2 g, Pink in the Afternoon
Price: £7.49

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely daytime lipstick, 7 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is the first time I have used a Revlon lipstick and I have been very impressed. The lipstick case is stylish, and looks good amongst my other make up. I particularly like the transparent end of the tube so you can quickly see the colour of the lipstick within.
The lipstick itself is nice to apply, it goes on easily and doesn't feel sticky at all. It seems to moisturise the lips and certainly stays put for several cups of tea!
The colour "pink in the afternoon" is a nice natural colour perfect for wearing during the day. I would say it is more of a coral / peach pink than a true pink. It went nicely with my colouring - fair, strawberry blonde, blue eyes. However there are plenty of other shades available as well if this shade isn't your cup of tea.

Barbie Fairytale Pegasus Unicorn
Barbie Fairytale Pegasus Unicorn
Price: £22.97

4.0 out of 5 stars An impressive fairytale unicorn for Barbie, 4 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My eight year old daughter really loves this Pegasus Unicorn, it certainly looks impressive!
It is bigger than I expected, but it is designed for full sized Barbies to sit on, so it needs to be quite big. The Pegasus Unicorn stands up well on its own. It has a shimmery body for the fairytale look, and a beautiful, colourful mane and tail complete with brush. The wings are large and help Barbie to stay on. Traditional, straight leg Barbies struggle to sit on the Pegasus Unicorn unaided, but the Barbies that have flexible or jointed legs do much better.
A great addition to any little girl's Barbie collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to apply and lasts all day., 1 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This eyeliner is very easy to apply - it is retractable and has a reasonably fine point (although it also has a sharpener in case you need a finer point). It has a smudger brush at the end, so you can blend your eyeliner although this needs to be done quite quickly after application. It is waterproof so is a bit more difficult to remove than regular eyeliner, however it does stay all day!

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Stain - Elusive
Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Stain - Elusive
Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this lip balm!, 30 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a lovely lip balm from Revlon. I've never used a lip balm in a solid pencil form before, but this is lovely. It is easy to apply and the matte finish looks nice - I hate the really shiny lip balms you can get. The colour is quite strong for a lip balm, but this pretty pink looks good. An easy lip balm to wear during the day to give a bit of colour to your lips. Perfect for the cold winter weather!

Airfix 1:48 Scale Red Arrows 50th Display Season Gift Set
Airfix 1:48 Scale Red Arrows 50th Display Season Gift Set
Price: £25.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice set, would make an excellent gift, 28 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Like a number of others, whilst not being a model hobbyist, I made a number of Airfix models in my youth, and fondly remember the model and paints section of our local toy shop (before moving on to Games Workshop). So, the opportunity to build not just one, but two models in a single set seemed too good an opportunity to pass up. Each red arrow plane comes in its own bag, avoiding any confusion with identifying the right sprue.

Being older and wiser, I decided to paint the models on the sprue and then touch up during assembly rather than jumping into assembly as I used to. Unfortunately, the paints that come with the set appear to be chemically incompatible with the plastic, so they clump as you paint onto the surface. Smelly though the old tins of paint were, they applied nicely. I found I needed to apply the paint, wait for it to semi-dry, and then re-brush to achieve a consistent coverage. Even then, I needed three coats for the larger pieces like the wings to achieve a nice finish (and a bit of touch up with a fourth coat in places). Sadly this means that the detail is not as crisp as it would be with one coat or two. So if you are really serious about making these look nice, you might consider a spray can of primer to give you better paint coverage.

Assembly was straightforward, fat fingers aside, although the instructions are a little sparse (some pieces had no clear identification of paint colour, but these could mostly be made out on the box - if in doubt, red). All told, an enjoyable few hours and, given the completeness of the set in including all you need to make the models, would make a really nice gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Top of the range toothbrush, 28 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have not previously got on with electric toothbrushes, having always felt that they did not leave my teeth feeling as clean as a manual scrub. No fear of that with this toothbrush! Without wanting to sound like an advert, after a couple of weeks of using it, my teeth feel and look so much cleaner. The clean is very powerful, and being inexperienced I find it a little uncomfortable on my front teeth and when I knock the casing against other teeth when brushing.

The glass holder is smart, as is the carry case, although the cover for the head does not fit in the carry case, which is a little disappointing, and will I guess mean that the case gets smeared with toothpaste over time.

Clearly at the pricepoint, you would expect a top of the range toothbrush, and I have two niggles, which mean I have (perhaps harshly) docked a stat: only one toothbrush head coming in the pack seems a little stingy, as does the lack of a well plug in case your bathroom doesn't have a shaver socket (which mine doesn't).

All told, a top of the range toothbrush and has completely chanegd my view on electric toothbrushes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun and quirky book for young readers., 16 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is the third book of the Wendy Quill series, my 8 year old daughter had previously read and enjoyed Wendy Quill is a Crocodile's Bottom, so she wanted to read this. She thought it was a funny book, and found it easy to read, only taking an afternoon to finish it.
This book contains three stories, “Wendy Quill and the Slightly-Squished Lady,” “Wendy Quill is Full Up of Wrong!” and “Wendy Quill and the Diary That Wouldn’t Stay Shut.” The author's 12 year old daughter has drawn the illustrations in the book, which is laid out in an interesting and quirky way and quickly captures the imagination of a young reader. My daughter particularly liked the fact that a 12 year old girl had drawn these "really good" pictures.
Wendy Quill is a funny and likeable character that any 6-8 year old will identify with and enjoy reading about. I would recommend this latest book in the series to all young readers.

RSPCA Burgess Guinea Nuggets, 2 Kg

5.0 out of 5 stars A tasty bag of nuggets!, 9 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Our ageing guinea pig has been fed the same brand of nuggets for most of her life, seemingly with no complaints, however she has absolutely loved these RSPCA nuggets and chooses them over her usual brand of nuggets.
Muesli mixes allow a guinea pig to selectively feed, so a major benefit of nuggets is that the nutritional mix contained in the nuggets is perfect for guinea pigs so you can be sure they are getting the correct balance of nutrients. It is recommended that fresh greens are provided alongside the nuggets, and to always ensure the guinea pig has plenty of fresh water.
The price of these seems comparable to my usual choice of brand, and I would highly recommend these to any guinea pig owners.

Micro Scalextric 1:64 Scale Hyper Cars Race Set
Micro Scalextric 1:64 Scale Hyper Cars Race Set
Price: £34.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Some teething difficulties, but working nicely now, 4 Jan. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I got this set for my two daughters aged 6 and 8, and of course hopefully providing me with the opportunity to race against them!

The set comes with two cars, controllers and a reasonable length of track, which can be configured into a variety of circuits. Sadly it lacks the chicane segment that provided so much fun in my youth, but the tracks are good fun.

We did have a frustrating first 30 minutes of setting it up where one or both cars would periodically not work. Having done some swapping, fiddling with the cars, etc, we finally worked out that the triggers need to be pulled back and towards the hand (for a right hander) and not just straight back. This slightly reinforces the feeling of slightly cheap build quality that the set has (the cars are not very impressive to look at). After some practice, the girls have got the required technique sorted, and are now firmly loving the track which, at the end of the day, is all that matters.
