5.0 out of 5 stars Scarily accurate, chucklesomely funny, 11 Oct. 2013
Dave Walker takes a look at goings on in your typical church. Whilst making us laugh, often out loud, he also makes us realise just how fond we all are of the Church of England, characters, foibles and all. You'll never think of the flower guild in quite the same way again...

Bigjigs Rail BJT104 Mini Track (Pack of 8)

5.0 out of 5 stars The bits you're always running out of - at a very good price, 20 Aug. 2013

When building railways with my son I'm always finding that two ends won't quite reach to join, or that I'm trying to join two of the same type of end to each other. This simple box of bits is invaluable for such situations - and far more keenly priced than any of the competing brands, with which it is fully compatible. Recommended as a solution to rail rage!

Bigjigs Rail BJT053 High Level Blocks (Pack of 6)

5.0 out of 5 stars No more crying over spilt bridges, 20 Aug. 2013

These are a really obvious, simple product. But they are ideal for building a really big railway. Existing ramps and bridges can be made more solid, and they can also be used to elevate other sections of track - aerial bends, anyone?

Before this, the bridges we had (not Bigjigs but an inferior brand) collapsed whenever our little engineer went near. Now they stay up nice and solid. And that means a lot less crawling on the floor for Daddy too!

A road trip about proofreading? How could that be entertaining?

Surprisingly, this book made me laugh and cringe in equal measure - cringing at the typos of others, laughing at the entics of Jeff and Ben. It won't take you long to read this book, but it was a good way of spending a three hour flight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartfelt, heartbreaking, yet ultimately hopeful, 5 Feb. 2013

Miscarriage can often be a taboo - rarely spoken about because we don't know what to say, embarassed at the reaction it might provoke. Emma's poetry and prose provides us, bravely, with an insight into how it must feel. Reading this helped me to engage better and be more supportive to a friend who's been through this. Sad, sorrowful yet ultimately redemptive - an understanding into how motherhood doesn't just happen in the delivery room but right from the start. Read and be challenged, saddened and still uplifted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short stories threaded together, 5 Feb. 2013

This review is from: The Lake (Kindle Edition)
Each chapter can be read as it's own short story; threading them together though gives you a real idea of the Lake. As with her first book, The World Outside My Window, Nina's vivid use of imagery paints a mental picture that stays with you long after reading.

Tomy Aquadoodle Timmy Time Mini Mats
Tomy Aquadoodle Timmy Time Mini Mats
Offered by Bargin Billies
Price: £3.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal to keep your toddler quiet, 5 Feb. 2013

These little mats are wonderful for keeping our boy quiet. He loves colouring them in to see the pictures beneath; and the fact they dry out and can be used again and again is a bonus. Even the thoughtful way they design the "pens" to unscrew the "wrong" way to be filled with water is good - little fingers aren't used to this so won't be making a mess.

The World Outside My Window

5.0 out of 5 stars Stories to make you think, 5 Feb. 2013

Each short story immerses you into the world of people or, in some cases, an inanimate object. Looking at the world from a different perspective made me smile, frown, laugh and ponder in equal measure. Each story is long enough to provoke a thought but short enough to leave you wanting more - just what you want from a short story. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jump-tastic!, 5 Jan. 2012
Ben loved the Jumperoo he got for Christmas. It's excellent that it can be put together without any tools - took my brother-in-law about 20 minutes to do whilst we cooked the Christmas dinner. Sarah is pleased - it's the first toy Ben has really wanted to play with for a long time. As a hint - you may need to put something under a shorter babies feet to get them started, but once they have got the hang of it you can take this away. Only drawback? It does take up a lot of the floor when in use, but it will fold down when not in use and, unlike other bouncers, doesn't block a doorway. Recommended.
