4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing start, 31 May 2014

I enjoyed this book and found it to be intriguing throughout.
I did find the ending a bit disappointing but decided it was good enough to purchase the box set - sadly I found the subsequent 2 books a bit tedious. Would recommend this but not the next 2.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get an editor!, 31 May 2014

I enjoyed the story. It has a mix of various fantasy genre thrown together - witch's, daemons, other worlds through portals, etc. etc.
It kept going at a good pace and I kept me interested throughout.

Downside is the editing. I know a lot of free or cheap kindle books have sloppy editing but I found this one particularly annoying as it kept switching to the present tense. Lazy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lost interest, 31 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first book is good and gets a 4.5

Sadly the second and third books linger far too long on boring technical details of how to create a water wheel or concrete or some other marvel that we all know about. (And anyone interested in accuracy might get annoyed!)

The overall concept was good but I ended up flicking through large chunks waiting for the author to get on with the actual story!

I would recommend the first book. I can't recommend books 2 or 3.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, 1 May 2014

This book is Ok but for me it didn't quite live up it's potential

It just did not become a "must put down" read and sometimes I lost interest before resuming

Ingredients are there and passes the time but doesn't quite have that je ne se quoi.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me, 1 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Read first few chapters but this one is just not for me. Probably appeal to early teens but sorry this just didn't work in writing style or intellect - or maybe I'm just too old!
It"s free so give it a go as I am sure you will quickly decide if it is one for you or not.....

The Breakers Series: Books 1-3
The Breakers Series: Books 1-3

5.0 out of 5 stars Breakers, 24 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A thoughtful work. Concentrating on how people may survive and live after a pandemic and Alien arrival.
However this is not a "falling sky's" type of story where there is constant fighting of Aliens. The Aliens are around but not the main focus.
The author follows a few characters in two plot lines that eventually come together.
Slightly disappointing that the second book starts at the same place as the first started, albeit with different characters.
However these books are well written and you want to keep reading to find out the end of each story line.

4.0 out of 5 stars Part 4, 24 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is set 6 years after the pandemic. It is similar to the other books in so much as it concentrates on 2 different sets of characters alternating per chapter.

As per the first books don't expect lots of aliens. This book is about how the remaining survivors have set themselves up and exist and live. Including the aliens. Again well written and thoughtful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coincidence?, 24 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is two parallel stories spanning two different eras.
The first re-interprets events in the old testament incorporating the Exodus, the Ark of the covenant and the desire for immortality. The second storyline is a modern day flee/quest when a small group of scientists and military have to escape when their research is breached and it becomes apparent the artifacts they are working on are more important than they realised.

An enjoyable story with lots of alternatives theories to traditional Bible interpretations - so not one for those who get upset by the Dan Brown type of fiction!

Bit messy and unclear at times but otherwise good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Complicated, 11 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good read .Quite dark and satanic in places.

A mix of Christ, anti-Christ, Masons, Templers, Luciferians etc. etc. Sure to upset some.

However you do need to keep pace or you may get confused with the characters. AlsoSome historical knowledge of the late 60"s / early 70"s may help your enjoyment as fact and fiction are interwoven ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Cut the romance!!, 27 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good follow up from the first book. Slightly spoilt by the romance and the constant reminders of what the characters did in book one. This is a trilogy rather than a one off!!
However, this continues to be a good read and I have just bought the 3rd instalment
