You need this album, 2 April 2007
one of the best most majestic beautifully orchestrated and delicately layered sonic soundscapes I've ever heard. Own it, wear it out, buy it again. I'm onto my 3rd copy, one of which is a beautiful sealed limited edition tall envelope sort of thing.
That this band split up is a crime to our children who will never be able to see them perform together as a group. This album is spectacular. violins are awesoem guitar sound is utterly distinctive, and if you saw them live you will know even more what that means - they own their sound and nothing else before or afterwards will ever have that same heavenly quality. Instrumental powerhouse opener like a faster Explosions in the Sky, all the way through to the momentous (almost terrifying) secret track a crack up at the race riots, with it's dark thoughts echoing through like the end of the world is coming. I hope the end of the world sounds half as good as this, when the time comes.
