5.0 out of 5 stars So good i'm going to buy another pair!, 17 Oct 2011
I'm a Police Officer and have worn these boots for 2 1/2 years, they are finally coming to the end of their life and a hard one they have had! Asside from hundreds, if not several thousand miles of foot patrol in them, i've also used them for trekking and have been around the world with me.

I've found them to be exeptionally comforatable and rather hard wearing. The toes are now scuffed and no longer shine, the soles are starting to disintergrate and there is a hole in the back of the neck of one of the boots after being put on/taken off soo many times! To be expected for the amount of use the've had!

This is a good value boot, great for 6-8 hours walking a day without issue and about 4 hours of standing still on posts before they start to become uncomfortable. I don't think there is footwear out there that wont cause discomfort after extended time on your feet.

The boots are also lighter than expected and are grippy even in poor weather and surfaces.

My intention was not to come here to review them but to purchase another pair. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant film and future cult classic but will it work out on the small screen?, 28 May 2008
This review is from: Cloverfield [DVD] (DVD)
This has got to be one of the suprise hits of 2007! I goto the movies most weekends, sometimes twice a weekend, i've seen all the must see films of the past 2 years on the big screen but NO film had such an impact on me as this. The way the film is shot may not be to everyones taste but it works very well; you really do feel like your in the middle of the action, especially in the cinema where you have a life size perspective and true 3D surround sound, it feels more like you are looking through the dudes eyes for the most part as opposed to through a camera, thats the level of immersion.

I could critisise the story which is indeed flawed but is no different from any other Horror-esque film, they are always doing the wrong things and getting into more trouble, you don't really bond with the characters a great deal but you could argue that in the panic of the events taking place that a more primal instinct of survival is in play and the last thing you want is to be distracted by getting to know the characters, the first 20 minutes tell you all you really need to know.

At the cinema this film works very well and was a real experience but I fear this film may not work soo well on the small screen; but I could be wrong. Be sure to be in a dark room with the sound up!

I give this film 5 stars as although I feel that there are some flaws in the plot this is an experience that everyone should undertake you will either love it or vomit and If you were lucky enough to see it at the cinema I expect your already having its babies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive, 11 Mar 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Being a long time Command and Conquer fan and liking what i had seen in trailers i had to download the demo (1.12GB!). On starting the game the much loved FMV sequences braught the game and the story to life. There are a couple of GDI demo missions which are good and ease u into the game again, unsuprisingly for a demo they are short, but then there is skirmish arguabally my favourate part of previous Command and Conquer games.

I run with everything on max settings and it does look brilliant, even with 50+ mammoth tanks it copes well, firefights are spectacular, the computer really puts up a good fight. It is a lot faster paced than previous cnc games with top tech reached in about 10-15 mins depending on opponent.

Some people will argue that mass mammoth tank rushes will destroy any NOD opponent, which, yes, they will. Its a core strategy of the GDI, good NOD players will have to work hard at the beginning of the game and not allow GDI build up such armies. NOD is very much a hit and run force with fast stealth units. Little is known about the THIRD force, the Alien race the Scrin, EA have kept quiet in the most part of how this force will play other than it has some of the most powerful units in the game!

Be warned this game is addictive and stays true to the original Command and Conquer formula which has held up well for over 10 years!

I will be preordering!
