Dribble, 23 July 2012
Fun little novelty hen party toy Made for lots of fun for the evening Couple of issues though-the hole for filling up the pistol was tiny, so was a slow, messy process. The whole thing then leaked quite badly from anywhere and everywhere possible, so couldn't be put down at any point

COMPLETE waste of money, space and time, 25 Jan 2012
Firstly, I don't understand why a Travel Guide publisher would think that a heavy, hard back book is what travellers want -...I should have read the warning signs as this certainly isn't a book that will help you discover the best places to go (many of the suggestions are obsolete, obscure, or obvious), how to get there (there are a number of "great sights, experiences" etc that the book recommends, then fails to tell you where they are (ie - The Emerald district in Bogota is listed as one of the top 7 things to do in the whole of Colombia, has a boxed information piece dedicated to it, but fails to tell you where it is beyond a road name (the road is several kms long) nor any local custom / culture / useful tips (we had no idea how or where to hail taxis, tipping expectations and many many other useful details which other guides tend to advise on), synopsis's of areas (everything is written in one long paragraph, so without reading 3 full pages of text - unappealing in itself - it is hard to understand what a region has to offer), detailed/keyed area maps (a CRUCIAL part of exploring the unknown is the ability to navigate around cities and with only a few vague and hard to read maps, with no key or glossary, the very first thing I had to do when I arrived was buy a map !!), headings for sections (although this may seem like splitting hairs, if you flick the book open, you have to find the first page of that section to be able to identify what the following pages are talking about. Most other travel guides have the area being written about in small letters at the top of each page, so you at least know if you are in the right part of the book), writing style (as previously mentioned, this guide features page after page of information written for the most part well, although there are a few attractions that were so unclear even the tourist office didn't understand what it was trying to say ! - ie - the information about Zipa Salt Cathedral) I bought this guide as it is the only Colombia guide written post 2009, so I thought it was best to have the most up to date information. What this guide has made clear though is that it is as much about the presentation of facts and ease of use of the guide that is going to make people enjoy using it. I ended up referring to it a couple of times whilst away, but I was not willing to break my back carrying around a book all day that to me has no greater value than fire kindling. Sorry to be so negative, but this is one of those times when saying "I don't recommend this" just doesn't cover it.

Get what you pay for, 25 Nov 2011
This aerial came in 3 pieces with screws and nuts and bolts, no instructions, and all I can assume is either a piece missing, or the wrong sized screw inclosed as I was never able to assemble the full antennai and therefore still have crackling reception in the car. False economy !

If you want a guide book that tells you what a country was like 3 years ago.....this is the book for you !!, 25 Nov 2011
As always, the format of a LP guide book is great. Maps are clear and detailed, glossery and language section are super useful. Easy to read, informative with the odd lovely photo illustration. What lets this book down though is that in such a rapidly changing country as Vietnam, it just won't do to publish information last updated in 2009 as "current". We had been warned about this so didn't use the book for restaurants, bars or hotel guidence.....which in a way defeats the purpose of a travel guide. However, having looked into this, as it turns out both Rough Guides and Footprints Vietnam books were also last updated in 2009, with new versions due 2012.We are therefore in an up-to-date info limbo until the new versions come out.

New York New York, 14 Oct 2011
This was a helpful starting place when finding your bearings in this city. Detailed area maps are - as always - priceless. The only problem we found was that with so many choices of places to go, eat, drink or sleep in, there is no way they could all be included. Unfortunately I feel that a few gems have been missed out....

Genious product, 1 Aug 2011
This grippy surfaced turntable easily and confortably holds and turns my 42" TV It seems to roll on ball bearings so is smooth and effortless to push round. Inoffensive looking as black so blends in with the tv etc... Highly recommended for anyone lookng to be abel to twist a TV (or any else that fits onto the turntable) Cheap yet decent quality.
