4.0 out of 5 stars A great read - Perfect for newcomers to George V, 7 Dec 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This book is one in a new series by penguin covering all the British monarchs from 1066 to present. Each book is written by a different historian, and each book also looks the same visually - white hardcover with gold title, and large slipcase cover of an artwork of the monarch under discussion.

I got this book after reading another in the series (Henry VIII), and found it to be as enjoyable and as informative.

This particular book focuses on George V, and is written by David Cannadine, a British historian who has published several books on the Monarchy. Like the Herny VIII book, it makes for interesting, authoritive reading, while maitinaining a "light" accessable tone for the reader less well versed in British history..The book is pretty short at only 118 pages, but it does offer a good look at the life of George V, how he became the King, and the key events during his reign. As with the other books in this series, there are eight pages of colour paitings included in the book to support the text, and which add a nice touch of colour to the book.

In keeping with the accessable nature for the book, there are no footnotes, mid text referencing or appedecies, but all the sources used in writing this book are referenced at the very end.

Having never read much about George V before, I found this book to be very informative, accessable and enjoyeble read, and I look forward to reading more in this new series.

This book is one in a new series by penguin covering all the British monarchs from 1066 to present. Each book is written by a different historian, and each book also looks the same visually - white hardcover with gold title, and large slipcase cover of an artwork of the monarch under discussion.

This particular book focuses on Henry VIII, and is written by John Guy, an expert Tudor historian and Fellow at Cambridge. As a result, it makes for interesting, authoritive reading, while maitinaining a "light" accessable tone for the reader less well versed in British history..The book is pretty short at only 112 pages, but it does offer a good look at the life of Henry VIII and the key events of his reign. All in all, while this offers nothing new or groundbreaking in the overall historiography of Herny VIII, it is an informative, accessable and enjoyeble read, and I look forward to reading more in this new series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb Iron!!, 7 Dec 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have been using this Iron for the last few weeks and have encounterd no performance issues what so ever; it heats up quickly, the steamer function is effective, the "heat guide" on the dial is accurate and it cools down pretty fast after use too.

Its a very stylish iron too - the black and chrome looks superb and the steam buttons are easy to access and very responsive too. The handle is not too wide, and there is decent hand toom between the hand and the base of the iron itself. Also, the length of the power cord is good and not too short.

The small, yet numerous amount of holes on the underside results in a very effective iron that steams and irons in a smooth, consistent way, getting more creaces out first time - the result being a speed up my iorning time. The auto off feature is a VERY handy addition too.

T overall this is a great iron - its solid, stlylish and most importantly effective!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cat food, 22 Nov 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've recently changed my cat food from dried Iams to this and so far I've very happy with the results.

My cat is just over 2 years old and made the transition over to the pro plan very well So far my cat has eaten all the food given to her (1 poutch = 1 portion) and has not turned her nose up at it once, as some cats tend to do while changing brands or style of food.

I Have been feeding her this food for about 3 weeks and there has been no change in how shiney her coat is, no change in the regularity of visting the litter tray, tand here's no bad breath either. My cat is also a lot more "excietable" in anticipation of her food, so I'm assuming that she prefers the poutches.

All in all I'm very happy with the pro plan, and definatley will be buying more in future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but quite a low sound, 22 Nov 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have always prefered the "in ear" headphones, but so far I have been quite impressed with these headphones.

The the thinck pads on each year are comfortable on the ears, and I found I could easily use them when lsitening to an entite album or watching a film on the laptop without feeling any discomfort.

The sound quality on them is pretty good too, its clear, and gives a "surround" feel, but compared to both my sony and Marley "in ear" headphones, the sound from them is much quieter and the bass is very low, which uis quite surprising for DJ headphones.

Overall, while stylish and comfortable, the generally low levels of noise and bass has left me slightly underhwhelmed with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, sturdy, superb!, 22 Nov 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This file is superb.

Its sturdy, easy to use and is very bright. The locking mechanism iseasy to open and close, and its also very well attached to the file so there's little chance of it coming lose and moving about.

As with other files of this size, it stores A4 documents easilly. It's wide enough that even if they are stored on plastic wallets they do not hang out of the side of the file, keeping its neat look.

Ultrasport Downhill Ski Socks black/grey Size:44 - 47
Ultrasport Downhill Ski Socks black/grey Size:44 - 47

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent pair of socks, 19 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These socks offer decent value for money.

The sizing of the socks is good - I'm a UK size 11 and these socks fit me very well, and ski socks they cover most of my shins as a rugby or footall sock would.

However, the good quality of these socks is let down somewhat by the thinness of the sock on the heel and toes.while these seem fine walking around in boots, I tried them out on a very long walk and found they did not protect me from discomfort after 20min, which makes me doubt how effective they will be when I use them for skiing in November.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovelly book!, 19 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I got this book to branch out my cooking skills and I'm very glad I did. The book is very well presented with easy to follow instructions, some stunning pictures and most importantly, some delicious recipies!

The text is eay to read and follow (not too small to follow while cooking!) and the step by step instructions makes it hard to go wrong whn cooking the recipes.

The main sections of the book are cakes & pastries, breads & savories and jams, along with sections on Christmas and midsummer. Each recipie has instructions along with a picture and the complex recipes also have more pictures and instructions showing you how to make them.

All in all this is a great book for those looking to improve thier bread and cake making skills, however those looking for savory baking may be slightly let down as a majority of this book concerns bread and dessert making recipies.

Graco Evo Pushchair 2014 Range (Khaki)
Graco Evo Pushchair 2014 Range (Khaki)
Price: £245.00

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb pushchair, 3 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have been very impressed with this pushchair - its light, durable, easy to push, its well built, and suitable for babies from birth to 3 years old - Everthing you need in a good pushchair.

The chair itself was very easy and straight forward to assemble, and as each part "clicks" in to place, its pretty hard to get it wrong. Rotating the chair to be front facing or rear facing is also very easy, as is remvoing the chair itself from the frame to turn it in to a carry cot. The adjustable straps are easy to change the size and the safety clips all fit together well too - making this an easy product to use once assembled.

The basket under the chair provides a great deal of space and can easily hold a change bag, and some shopping, and even when full it does not seem to effect the steering / central weight of the chair when pushing it along - maintaining its very good manuverability.

An all this is a very well built pushchair that's light, easy to use and, with a freet winter foot muff included too, offers great value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value bottle, 3 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This 900ml bottle offers great value for money.

The conditioner is very effective in keeping hair moist, especially after a "long - deep clean", and it does exactly what it says in the bottle. I have quite a sensative scalp, and this product has not upset my skin once.

All in all a great quailty product
