A brilliant pair of trousers from my favourite label. Can be worn with anything from t-shirts to collared shirts and ties. Everyone should have a pair tucked away.

Crusader Archaeology: The Material Culture of the Latin East
Crusader Archaeology: The Material Culture of the Latin East
by Adrian J. Boas
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £81.98

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Overview, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The archaeology of the crusades is a surprisingly under-researched topic, largely owing to the political and cultural difficulties in assessing much of the material outside Israel. This text (now 15 years old) is a rather authoritative overview of the topic.

If one is studying Levantine castles, however, as I was - there isn't a great deal of material here one couldn't find elsewhere.

A fully updated edition would be a useful undertaking for the author.

The Fall (Penguin Modern Classics)
The Fall (Penguin Modern Classics)
by Albert Camus
Edition: Paperback
Price: £5.59

3.0 out of 5 stars A review of the book not the novel, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The novel is excellent. Leaving that to one side - (who are we to review novels of this nature ?) I will briefly discuss the edition.

Firstly, the book itself is incredibly flimsy. The novel is short (just shy of 100pp) but that is not an excuse for an edition that looks like it came free with a Sunday newspaper. Penguin's dull editions have become a matter of serious irritation for me. Just because something is cheap doesn't mean it has to be ugly.

A History of Archaeological Thought
A History of Archaeological Thought
by Bruce G. Trigger
Edition: Paperback
Price: £23.39

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Volume, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For any Archaeology student, academic or lay interest reader this is the essential volume required to cut through the matrix of Theory. Trigger excelled at summarising difficult concepts in short paragraphs before exploring their major themes. Wonderful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cerebral thrill-ride, 3 April 2014
Disorienting. Confusing. Heartbreaking. A film not to be missed, this brainy indie thriller leave you with an unsettling chill for several days.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Poetry, Decent Edition, 28 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Collected Poems (Paperback)
I am not qualified to comment on the poetry of Frost from a literary point of view, so I will instead discuss what stimulated me to deduct a star from this wonderful collection. Simply put, the book doesn't look or feel particularly nice. The typeface inside is old-fashioned and not particularly neat, the pages feel cheap and grainy. Transferring such a classic title to a pretty digital typeface for these reprints would surely have been cost effective, or at least a nice gesture from Vintage. The overall experience of the book is that of a student edition rather than something I'd be proud to have on the shelf. In this age of ebooks - publishers need to make aesthetically pleasing volumes (particularly of poetry, which is all over the internet for free) or face financial extinction.

The Letter Killers Club (New York Review Books Classics)
The Letter Killers Club (New York Review Books Classics)
by Sigizmund Krzhizhanovsky
Edition: Paperback
Price: £5.90

3.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Diversion, 28 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A clever, often quite amusing book that certainly lifts the reader out of the humdrum of much of today's pusillanimous literature. This said I did find myself dreaming of the end about 40 pages ahead of its conclusion - strange as the novel is rather short. Perhaps it would have been more engaging as a stage play?

Levi's Short Sleeve Standard Fit Graphic 2 Hor Logo Men's T-Shirt Horse Pull/White Medium
Levi's Short Sleeve Standard Fit Graphic 2 Hor Logo Men's T-Shirt Horse Pull/White Medium

3.0 out of 5 stars Great design. Weird fitting., 28 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love Levis clothes and have owned a bunch of them over the years. This t-shirt has a beautiful classic design and matches almost any jeans, chinos or trousers. My only negative is the slightly baggy fit around the arms. Many t-shirts today are more fitted than this item and hence more flattering for those of us on the slender side. After a few washes the crew neck started to fold in on itself too and look quite peculiar.

Aerolite® Super Lightweight World lightest Suitcase Trolley Cases Bag Luggage (18" 21" 26" 29" 32") (29", Black 9970)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value super-light case., 28 Mar 2014

After a disaster involving some ratty old cases being inextricably confined to a storage locker it was time for a new investment. The case is so light it can be lifted with an index finger when empty; and has plenty of convenient handles and straps for lifting in and out of cars.

No problems whatsoever with it so far. Great purchase!

Trunk Music
Trunk Music
by Michael Connelly
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.22

4.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Bosch, 29 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Trunk Music (Paperback)
I think I stand with other Connelly reviewers when I claim this is not his best work, but far from his worst. Indeed, there's absolutely nothing 'wrong' with this novel - it just lacks the gripping dynamism of earlier Bosch novels and other Connelly works. Everything about it is 'typical' Bosch. More disciplinary issues, more mobsters, more Eleanor Wish. A welcome addition to any fan's collection and essential reading if one is reading the Bosch tales in sequential order, it's still one of the best ways to spend less than three quid (many of the Amazon sellers are retailing this at under a pound plus postage) on a crime novel.
