Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist
Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist
Price: 7.20

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent charting of the demise of Greenpeace from rational environmentalists to just nonsense lefty confrontationalists., 17 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Dr Patrick Moore leads the reader through the formation of Greenpeace to promote environmental issues from a sound technical standpoint through to its gradual loss of technical authority and its fall into the hands of lefty political activists whose purpose is no longer to harness the worlds resources for sustainable use but simply to provide an outlet for confrontationism for its own sake.

It is an eloquent plea to restore sanity in the battle to save the environment, and although its basis is sound technology it is always explained in words that do not rely on technical jargon for their impact, but sound reasoning, and no particular need of technical knowledge is required to understand it.

It is an excellent read! Mark Harvey

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent travel lens as claimed, and on my Nikon D80 it gives me a usefull 35mm focal length equivalent of 420mm., 17 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent travel lens as claimed, and on my Nikon D80 it gives me a useful 35mm focal length equivalent of 420mm. This effectively replaces my Nikon 18 --> 135mm lens and my Nikon 70 --> 300mm lenses, both for optical sharpness of the image and in the speed of focusing that I need for wildlife photography. I am impressed, and would have been further impressed if the 'macro' capability was 1:2 instead of 1:3.8.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bob Tisdale's evidence further damns the fraud that is the IPCC., 17 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Absolutely clear exposition on how poor the 'IPCC' GCM climate models perform -- the mismatch between climate model output and reality is staggering. If that is the best that the IPCC can come up with after the billions wasted on their research, it casts all science in a poor light. Bob Tisdale's examples are yet another piece of damning evidence for the total misconception of anthropogenic global warming.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Mac version of PS Elements 12 disappointing as it is less capable as a photo editor than Elements 9, my previous version., 17 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
About all I can say for Elements 12 is that it did install on my Imac, but as a photo editor it has reversed away from the trend of previous versions in converging towards the full Photo Shop programme performance. In hindsight I should have installed a trial version and checked it before purchase. I'm not impressed!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent exposition of crass and fraudelent beauracracy at the BBC., 2 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A piece of clearly expressed journalism that exposes skulduggery, fraudulent use of taxpayers money and bias at the BBC. Andrew Montford et al are to be highly commended for their resolute application to the task in hand in the face of determined cover ups on the part of the BBC. It saddens me to realise the careless way that Prof Steve Jones got himself involved in the process; a kick in the teeth for the reputation of science.

5.0 out of 5 stars full marks to the lenovo G580, 16 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Lenovo G580 worked like a dream straight out of the box, and even Windows8 is no hassle at all once I had clipped the Classic Shell app to it, that converts it instantly to a WXP interface (what a relief).

One major use for the laptop is to enable the wife to access internet opera, and the built in G580 audio and wifi connections to the router all work smoothly and with uncannily good speaker quality and volume -- I am suitably impressed!

The major workhorse is Microsoft Office 2010 (64bit) which was loaded and operational in short order.

My only very minor quibble is the fiddly manual switch for the DVD/CD drive, which is difficult to feel for under the keyboard rim.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent and detailed exposition on how the climate we have works, and why, without hysteria or hype., 21 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent and detailed exposition on how the climate we have works, and why, without hysteria or hype. John Kehr takes us through the science, and matches this up with observations, which together exposes the distortions and rant of the warmists and AGW. He demonstrates by examples from the scientific investigations into previopus glacial and interglacial cycles just how normal our current interglacial climate is behaving and indicates that the overlying trend is inexorably leading us toward the next glaciation phase with specific reference to the Milankovic insolation data.
