5.0 out of 5 stars Monroe at her best, 19 Mar. 2006
I bought this DVD as my mother and i used to watch it in the 80's and I loved it. I purchased it in 2006 (due to fond memories)and my 3 year old daughter loves it and sings to "Diamonds are a girls Best friend" all the time (her favourite song, I like Bye bye Baby).
Great songs that relate to the storyline. There is a part where Dorothy (Jane Russel) sings with the Olympic atheltes and i fast forward that (found it boring as a child, still do). Aside from that the DVD is a great buy and enjoyed by all ages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read but it could have been great, 19 Mar. 2006
This review is from: Single Mom: A Novel (Paperback)
This book was enjoyable but at time droned on a bit with the discussions about the african American community/ single mothers and the importance of fathers. I think that the point was put across in the story line without these lengthy discussions every 5 pages or so.
I was expecting the book to be about a trifiling woman with two kids different dads and her struggle to cope in the ghetto. But this book skips pass the struggle and we enter the the single mom's life when her kids are 15 and 11 (apx) and living in the suberbs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, 25 Feb. 2006
This review is from: Rude Gal (Paperback)
This book is written by a woman from a woman's perspective. It touched on some of the issues that i and some friends have gone through in relationships, I identified.
I was also able to idebntify from a West Indian perspective as the writer is from Jamaican parentage.
The book is very raw, steamy and sexy and a great read. Its hard to put down. The only downfall is that its a short read 177 pages!!! We need more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 6 Jan. 2006
A fantastic book.I could'nt put it down. The detail that Dickey (the author) uses makes you feel as if you are there. The sex scences are steamy and the crimes that are committed leave you at the edge of your seat. The ending is not typical but is arguably a good one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Took me a while to get into it, 6 Jan. 2006
This book is traditional of Viriginia Andrews. The style, the storyline (always a rich family somewhere). It seemed to drag on a bit after Willow went to search for her mother. The whole Palm beach scence (where her mother lives) was quite a yawn.
