1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, 4 Jun. 2013
Going by many of the reviews here this should have been reasonable quality but I found it to be very poor.

I got this specifically for Skype and compared its recording ability to the microphone in the web cam I bought it for (Logitech c920) and a Plantronics C310 USB headset. It was by far the worst. The web cam had better sound from 5 feet away than this did 1 foot away. Even close up it introduced distortion and was muffled, far too quiet and basically just rubbish. The recorded sound from the Plantronics USB headset was a world away from this nonsense - really clear quality.

I suspect this is just badged as a Plantronics product rather than being made by them. My advice is to avoid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but try to get the v4 hardware, 19 Oct. 2012
This is a decent box which supports most things e.g. Annex-M. I ordered a few weeks ago and got the Version 3 hardware rather than the latest Version 4 which has a richer Web interface to manage it with better layout and new features not available in v3. Maybe check which version they are shipping first.

Updating the v3 to the latest firmware does add some extra features - such as enable DHCP on a per-port basis which could be useful but you don't get the V4 stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, Good utility software, 3yr Warranty, 27 Aug. 2012
This is probably the best drive for the ££ quality wise with the advantage of the bundled Samsung utility and Norton Ghost - worth £20 - plus the hard drive bracket (which actually fits as opposed to some, e.g. older Akasa, that are too short for some cases).

I've now installed about 6 of these to Dell Optiplex 745/755 systems running XP. The utility software to optimise the OS and SSD performance is important for XP as it isnt SSD aware like Vista or Windows 7.

"The Performance Optimization feature automatically consolidates disparate data and prepares invalid memory for future use. It accomplishes these tasks by force executing two very important SSD maintenance features: TRIM and Garbage Collection."

You don't really need this for Windows 7 but as it says "Of course, Windows 7 users can use Performance Optimization as well if they wish to force Garbage Collection and TRIM to run at a particular time rather than in the background."

The 'OS Optimsation' feature prolongs SSD life by disabling Super Fetch, Defragmentation, Ready Boost, Indexing Service and Disk power down.

Ensure AHCI is enabled in the BIOS (if available) after first loading the AHCI device driver for your chipset and you will have a faster system.

I saw comment that its hard to clone an existing disk - well it isnt.

1. Connect the disk to a SATA port (or a usb port if you use an adapter - free in the Laptop Kit)
2. Go to Windows 'Disk Management' and it will automatically recognize the disk (say Yes to write signature) but don't format it
3. Load Ghost in Windows
4. Select the 'disk copy' option
5. Ensure 'Copy MBR' and 'Make Disk Bootable' options are selected
6. After copying: shutdown, remove old disk, move the SSD to the primary chanel and reboot

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but cant cope with all cans, 29 April 2012
I like the design of this - operates easily with a comfortable handle and in the main its worth it over a standard opener.

The downside is that it cant cope with all cans - some have a thicker rim than others - I have liking for Rice Pudding and the Farmlea brand uses a lid edge too thick for it - I've tried on four cans and its failed on all of them.

Also its not dishwasher safe though it should get less gloopy than standard ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with some Nokia phones, 15 Mar. 2010
This card doesn't work with a new Nokia 3720 that I bought it for so be aware of this (the phone is meant to take 8Gb cards).

This isn't Transcends fault - its Nokia being unable or unwilling to make their phones compatible that the standard that is SDHC so be aware of this.

So I used this in my Canon camera and its fine - good card at a good price.
