5.0 out of 5 stars The tablet is not too light that it'll feel like it's going to fall out of your hand, 1 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although not a powerhouse in specs, this tablet is certainly able to do what most users would likely need it to for the price you would be paying.

Updating it to Windows 10 went relatively without a hitch and within an acceptable amount of time on starting the update process.

It's relatively well built. The tablet is not too light that it'll feel like it's going to fall out of your hand. Whilst the case itself has a light relief pattern to it, so it doesn't feel like it's about to slip out of your hands as some other devices may give the sensation of when holding the tablet via the back of the case only. But a minor concern is that this case appears to be relatively easy to scratch, so care should be taken when cleaning or handling the tablet. The screen itself also appears to have this issue. From 4 months experience with this tablet, two scratches have marred the surface of the screen and the case (1 on screen, 1 on case). Thankfully these are hardly noticable, and I must stress, were caused from my father who was bed bound after suffering a stroke with limited remaining mobility. So it's not like these scratches occurred very easily or often, but it will occur. Would recommend buying a screen protector at least to help prevent damage to the screen at the very least.

The screen itself is rather gorgeous, displaying vibrant colours on a bright well lit screen at the highest settings, easily showing off any images or photos on the screen. Although having the screen at this level will very quickly chew into the battery that this tablet comes with. So for most users, the screen will likely never be used at this level whilst out and about or not near a power point to recharge, which is a shame, as it really is great to look at.

One of the low point of the tablet, would easily be the inbuilt speaker. Unable to produce any type of bass, you'll be highly limited in what you can get from this tablets' main speaker if you are aiming for it to play audio. A family Skype event was rather horrendous with the main speaker as even at the highest volume setting, it was rather low, and the speaker was unable to produce certain tones without distorting them heavily. Recommendation would be to get some headphones instead. And given that it is a tablet, most likely used in this fashion anyway for most purchasers of this device, so it's not like it's a big negative on this tablet. But those wishing to get more from the main speaker will need to look elsewhere.

The battery itself I am unable to directly comment on, as the tablet was essentially used as an "always on" device and always plugged in, so I have not had any long term observation of how the screen, speaker, other functions and services of the tablet affects the longevity of a single battery charge. But from memory, the initial setup showed promising battery life times. Numbering a few hours browsing time easily even after installing required updates.

Overall, a recommended purchase for those actually looking for a more beefy tablet that doesn't break the bank but still able to perform most functions as on a Wnidows machine.

Eyebrows: Character, Willpower, Courage (Face Reading Essentials)
Eyebrows: Character, Willpower, Courage (Face Reading Essentials)
by Joey Yap
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read, but basic, exactly what it says on the tin, 3 Nov. 2010
This particular book deals with shape and structures related to the brows found on the typical person. It's a nice entry read into the subject area, short and concise on each shape of the brow. With each particular feature of a brow being covered on their own page, making it easy to read and browse through. But those seeking something more in depth will need to look elsewhere for further reading material on the subject matter, as this is an "Essentials" book, meaning the bare basics are covered here, but stuff like "Linking" and functional meaning are not included.

Those looking at this book should know that there are two copies available on Amazon(UK). One in simplified Chinese Eyebrows: Character, Willpower, Courage (Face Reading Essentials), and one in English Face Reading Essentials -- Eyebrows: Character, Willpower, Courage.

If you happen to be bilingual, but not too advanced in one particular language, the recommendation is you keep a sharp eye out on which one you are putting into the basket. Since those bilingual may actually be looking for the English title offered by Amazon, but miss out that the cover is actually in Chinese. And vice-versa. Both links are attached with this review to help readers find the one with the language they can understand best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pinnacle Dazzle * Video Creator Platinum DVC100, 28 Jun. 2009
There is some confusion between online product names for the Dazzle * Video Creator Platinum. Some have it listed as DVC170, which is actually a similiarly packaged product, but contains different hardware. This review is for the one listed here, the DVC100.

The major visible difference is the DVC170 is a silver coloured case instead of the black case that you see in the product image for this one. Although I do not personally know the actualy technical differences between the DVC170 and DVC100 (this product), I do know that this DVC100 is like the DVC170 able to capture PAL60 with colour via the use of a downloadable program (You can find this via seraching for the Pinnacle Dazzle DVC170 and the word PAL60 in a search engine). So those who are searching for a way to capture PAL60 videos will find this product to be just what are looking for.

One further plus of this particular product, is that Pinnacle have a *beta* 64bit driver available on their website that will function with the DVC100 (this product) but currently will not with the DVC170. And from what has been reported and talked about, the Pinnacle driver engineers do not appear to have a 64bit driver in mind for the DVC170 for the forseeable future (as of June 2009). So for those with a newer 64bit Operating System and computer setup, this DVC100 will be the better choice between the two (DVC170 and DVC100).

Technical usage aside, the installation of this device is quick and easy. Installation of the software is required first, once completed, it is merely a matter of plugging in the USB cable to the computer and launching the Studio package that you installed. Capture quality is considered to be of a good quality (especially if you are capturing from a VHS VCR) so long as you have a clean VCR unit. Colours are bright and close to original quality even on PAL60 (NTSC colours on a PAL unit).

The video is captured and can be stored in a variety of formats and is changable for your own hardware and capture requirements. So your captured video can be utilised in other editing programs if you have access to them instead of the one supplied. If you need to use the supplied software, you will find that it is quite simple to use, although some of the more advanced effects you might want to try to apply might be available for a short trial time only, or needs to be purchased first. However, most of your video capturing and editing needs should be easily catered to via their existing software and their offered upgrade options.
