5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book buy it for someone special, 20 Feb 2014
Purchased this book for my wife. Brilliant photos & baking ideas.

The international magazine for EVERYTHING Burlesque writes:
You may already have heard of Charlotte White, the gorgeous lady behind Restoration Cake who just launched Burlesque Baking.

If you haven’t, well let me introduce her to you. She is a lady with style and she bakes some yummy stuff . “Bespoke Wedding Cakes, Celebration Cakes and Cupcakes that taste as good as they look”, as she says.

Charlotte explains: “Burlesque is all about glamour and spectacle and I try to make my cakes with these same principles in mind. I believe that cakes should be beautiful as well as tasting incredible as we eat first with our eyes.”

We met her for the first time at the World Burlesque Games in London last year as she revealed us a few secret ingredients of Burlesque Baking.

An afternoon cupcake interview is organised with her tomorrow, the 19th of February for as she loves Burlesque Bible magazine and wanted to do something special for our editor Helene Phillips. What a lucky one !

That this one below inspired by Immodesty Blaize not look fabulous ? Not only it looks AMAZING… but it also taste somptous. It’s a delight for both your eyes and your lips.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I never buy into the Christmas song thing. But this EP is excellent. I've followed both bands for some time now and they produce brilliant music! Buy this for yourself, friends and family. Both The Jive Aces and The Three Belles will be doing December shows to promote the EP so make sure you get along to see them perform live. A great night out that will make you dance and smile until the new year!

This review is from: Timeflows (Audio CD)
A new mini-album on both 180g LP and CD from this acclaimed band based around a core trio with backgrounds in Fields of the Nephilim and Pink Floyd along with numerous friends and associates.
The lead track `Neversea' features The Mission guitarist Simon Hinkler guesting. The band are gigging in both UK and Europe to support.

The Eden House launched in 2009 with their debut album `Smoke & Mirrors'. It showcased four different female lead vocalists: Julianne Regan (All About Eve), Monica Richards (Faith & the Muse), Evi Vine and Amandine Ferrari, alongside a stellar line-up of musicians. A good number of `album of the Month/Year' accolades were received and they went on to tour and headline festivals in the UK, Germany, Belgium and Poland. In early 2010 `The Looking Glass' followed, a live DVD issued together with a covers EP CD.

Now they release a mini-album, `Timeflows'. The title track is a 13-minute epic in two parts. Vocals are taken by Valenteen, Amandine Ferrari and Meghan-Noel Evans. They are backed by the core trio of Steven Carey (This Burning Effigy, Adoration), Tony Pettitt (Fields of the Nephilim) and Andy Jackson (the twice Grammy-nominated Pink Floyd engineer, and Fields of the Nephilim's epic `Elizium' producer), together with Simon Rippin (Nephilim/Nefilim), Bob Loveday (Bob Geldof, Penguin Café Orchestra etc) and guest guitarist on the lead track `Neversea', Simon Hinkler (The Mission).

5.0 out of 5 stars Electro Glam pop shock, 26 July 2007
Sohodolls are:
Maya von Doll (Vox, Multinational Mongrel),
Toni Sailor (Finnish Guitarist)
Weston Doll (Portsmouth Keyboard Player), Matt `Fuzzy' Lord (double bass, bass guitar), Paul Stone (drums)

Praise for Sohodolls

"Utterly magnificent slab of haughty electro-sleaze which makes Peaches sound as predatory and erotically charged as KT Tunstall. Let them get frosty on your ass - it is winter after all."
NME [on last single `No Regrets']

"Post-feminism sex rock n roll and it's downright tasty...let's do the nasty on the dancefloor"
The Fly

SOHODOLLS release their long-awaited debut album, `Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation,' on September 3rd.

Produced by Robert Harder (Whitey, Polar Bear, Babyshambles, The Sunshine Underground) and Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode, The Cure), `Ribbed Music...' is a twelve-track trawl through an electro-tinged rock 'n' roll underworld. An album about strippers, violence, paranoia and police car chases was actually recorded in a barn in Cornwall, surrounded by horses, sheep and summer berries in bloom."

The band's eclectic influences have conspired to create a multi-textured debut: "We love rock 'n' roll, electro, glam, '77-british punk, jazz and hip hop," says Maya the bands lead singer. "All these extremes make our music ribbed. We don't fit easily into pigeon-holes - not in music and not in life. We feel our generation has been cheated. Modern life has conspired to make us dumb, numb and un-questioning. We want people to tap into their primal senses again: lust, anger, love, fear, compassion, happiness and humour. Lyrically and musically the songs on this album express all of these feelings and instincts."
And the band's favourite tracks? "'My Vampire' is one," says Toni, "with its hypnotic dubby bass, twangy guitars and haunting vocals. `Trash The Rental' is Asbo Glam Punk for both narcissistic glam rockers and chavs. It's a racy joy ride through London with the police on our tails. There are some nasty guitars, ballistic synths and antagonising vocals. Finally we all especially love `I'm Not Cool' - an electro/rockabilly/old jazz track. It's basically Marilyn Monroe having the Stray Cats and Soft Cell over for dinner."
Other highlights include anthemic new single, `Right And Right Again' (out August 20), last year's acclaimed `No Regrets' ("a flamboyant homosexual marriage between Dr Dre and Marc Almond," said Maya at the time) - and longstanding club favourite `Prince Harry'. Not to mention the rather seminal debut `Stripper'.

Some History

Sohodolls' first two singles caused enough of a stir to reach #7 and #'12 in the UK indie charts. These were followed by last year's classic `Stripper', which won acclaim everywhere from The Fly to Clash and NME. They just played the O2 Wireless festivals in Hyde Park and Leeds supporting The Klaxons and Daft Punk - at both their shows the XFM tent was rammed to the hilt. Next they'll be playing the Secret Garden Festival. There'll be a brief break before they embark on their 5th but most extensive headline UK tour in the autumn. Previously the band supported She Wants Revenge on a UK tour, played to packed out venues in Berlin and Cologne as part of British Music Week, performed at Hugh Heffner's Playboy party in Moscow and the Big Issue's 15th Anniversary Concert at the Shepherd Bush Empire.
