Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics
Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics
Price: £5.52

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Politician should read this book, 14 Aug 2014

Really enjoyed this book, easy to read as you don't need to have studied economics to fully understand his 'lesson'. You may not agree with everything he says in the book but his arguments are interesting and persuasive. I think this should be compulsory reading for every politician with a test at the end to see if they understand it. Perhaps then they will understand, that being in debt is bad, being in credit is good. Or, as the old saying goes, Income £1, spending 99p (happiness), spending £1.01 (misery). Even if you are a follower of Keynesian economics this book will give you something to think about. What surprised me was although written a long time ago it is still relevant to the economics of today.

Already had a kindle touch, but wanted to upgrade to the paperwhite to read in bed without having a bedside light on. You can adjust the brightness to your taste, and it is easy to read both in the dark, and in bright sunlight. Only downside for me is that on my old kindle I could read about four books on one charge, with the paperwhite it needs charging after one book, even if the light is switched off completely. Might be I have a duff battery !, as Amazon seems to suggest that it should last nearly as long as the kindle touch on one charge.

Managed to get this for £9.99 which I thought was very good value for a five socket surge protector, as it is better value than some non-surge extensions. Design is excellent, not too bulky, is well made, and the 180 degree rotating power cord is a good idea. The cord management guide is also a good idea but to be honest, I don't use that myself as all my cables are routed through a cable management system on my pc desk. It also has a building wiring status led which lights up red if your wall socket is not grounded correctly. Obviously, cannot comment on how effective it is at surge protection, but it does come with up to £35,000 damage cover. Definitely recommend it.

Fits the kindle paperwhite like a glove. Basically same principle as a smartphone cover. Its a less bulky than my old case for my kindle touch. Its well made, looks like grained leather, and should last for a long time. Has a magnetic strip which locks the case when closed, this is also used to activate the switch in the kindle to switch it on when you open the case, and switch off when closed. The magnet is strong enough on mine that the case would not open accidentally i.e. while being carried in your briefcase, handbag, etc. I think its good value for money at just under £12.

Very interesting book. Easy to read, i.e. not technical. Covers a broad spectrum of the history of money in many different cultures and countries and makes you realise that the pound in your pocket is only really a virtual currency. If you are interested in how money came about, I would recommend this book as a good starting point.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs/ Monster House / Open Season, 14 Feb 2014

Had Cloudy and House already in 2D and wanted to view in 3D. My review is based on playing these through a PS3 and an LG 47" passive 3D tv, so it may not be the same for other people. The 3D effects on Cloudy and Open Season were excellent. House was a disappointment, as the 3D was no better than the tv converting a 2D film to 3D. All three cartoons were very enjoyable. My favourite was Cloudy, and I think watching in 3D enhances the film. Would recommend this package as it was much more expensive to buy the films separately.

5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't leak, 14 Feb 2014

Well, at least mine doesn't leak. The last three kettles I have had (all different makes) all leaked where the water level indicator is joined onto the metal kettle, as this one is plastic shouldn't be a problem. I seem to have a knack at making kettles leak, as friends with the same kettles have had no problems. This kettle is very light (unfilled) which makes it feel a bit cheap, but personally I didn't want to lug around a heavy kettle. It's quite tall at 25cms (10 inches), this is due to the one cup filler at the top. Used this for a while as it's a great idea for saving electricity, but have become lazy and now fill through the spout to just below the 2 cup mark for a good size mug. It's very quiet and boils very quickly, even when it's full it doesn't take long. It is also well balanced when pouring. It's well finished and looks good in the kitchen.

Followed this series from the start, and think this is the best so far. Graphics are very detailed. Had no problems running this, unlike a lot of reviewers. Well worth the money, especially as after purchasing you receive additional DLC's free. Had no problems with steam either when I installed it. The AI is definitely becoming less artificial and more intelligent. Brilliant game.

The cartoon itself is well made and the 3D effects are good. However, gave it only 3 stars as the humour wasn't to my taste, found it a bit silly. I love the Wallace and Gromit films, but this didn't hit the spot for me.

One of my favourite films as I love the humour and wanted to see how good it was in 3D. My heart sank when I opened the case and saw the old 3D red and blue specs. But, didn't need them, it works brilliantly on my LG TV (passive Glasses). 3D makes a real difference to the film, the depth is amazing as it is in most cartoons. My old copy was DVD so noticed the improvement in resolution as well. Recommend watching for all the family.
