5.0 out of 5 stars ' A Nagging doubt', 25 Oct. 2011
'Sitting on the edge of his chair, wondering what the innocuous package could contain, he held it to his nose and then an ear - no 'give-away' odours or rattling. Little did he know that after just six days the very core of his existence would change - just from the secrets revealed in the mysterious parcel.'
"Just open the damn thing"
"All right, all right - patience, my sweetheart, patience."
"Well, what is it?"
"A book - a very special book... now I can finish my novel."
"What - you gonna be sittin' for even longer at that damn computer writting that bloomin' novel you're never gonna finish anyway!"
"I am, my love, I am." He wafted his way through the books pages. She slamed her way out of his life. His novel was never published, but the book was well worth it!'

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Thorough, 2 May 2011
Margaret Medley is a highly respected and informed author; her knowledge and experience is obvious and it would be difficult not to find what you are looking for as far as Chinese ceramics are concerned. For me it is a book for those studying and researching the subject, and constantly 'dipping-into' the information.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tourist's delight, 2 May 2011
Very much for those interested in exploring the 'fine-detail' or other side of Amsterdam, away from the obvious touristy things.

Lisbon, City of the Sea: A History
Lisbon, City of the Sea: A History
by Malcolm Jack
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £27.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye-opener, 2 May 2011
This is a delightful book to read, with no pretentious theories or complicated language structure. It says it like it was, and the information is informative and interesting. A lot more than a pre-holiday tourist guide, it reveals Lisbon for the ancient port of commerce and multi-culturalism that it was. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating & Informative, 31 Mar. 2011
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I will continue to use it to 'dip-into' now and then for reminders and new information. It provided some refreshing perspectives that challenged many things I had previously been taught. Not really a 'touristy' book, but nevertheless very interesting if you want some extra and special insights. Thank you!
