5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, 10 April 2007
After watching this DVD it becomes clear why contemporary champions admire these Latin Heroes. De La Hoya copied Alexis Arguello. Roy Jones copied Salvador Sanchez. Hatton copied Roberto Duran. I watched this film hundreds of times on VHS (note to self: you need to get out more?)

This DVD beautifully illustrates Duran as a blunt battering ram who would take his opponents apart one body shot at a time. Arguello the consummate technician. Extensive highlights of Sanchez (who died in car accident at the age of 23) giving the great Wilfredo Gomez a systematic 8 round beating to his first defeat.

In Summary:
Extensive interviews with the Champs (both post-fight and present day). Expert Boxing analysis (including ABC Boxing expert Alex Wallau). Extensive fight footage. A tour of Puerto Rico, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama. Footage of Arguello advising and training young fighters at his gymnasium in Nicaragua, demonstrating his full-repertoire of shots in slow motion (a thing of beauty!)

Arguello's eloquence and charisma in these interviews really steals the show. Some of the one-liners he comes out with still have me in stitches.

This DVD is informative, entertaining, and such good value for money. Honest.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Toilet! - Please do not waste your money, 7 Feb 2007
As a Jones Jr fan (I own every one of his Pro Fights and many of his Amateur Bouts on VHS), I was so excited by the release of this DVD that I ran out to London's Trocadero and paid [...]. I dashed home and played the DVD. The production was so terrible, that I cannot convey my disappointment:
All HBO television signs had been blanked out, and replaced with a big advertisement for Square Ring Inc (Jones' own promotional company).
The expert HBO commentary, was replaced with almost fabricated wrestling commentary.
Much of the most exciting action from the fights was missing.
Even the exact words of expert HBO Commentator George Foreman were replaced by some other voice: When Jones fought Virgil Hill, and stopped him with a bodyshot, Foreman said "UNHEARD OF. UNHEARD OF." On this DVD, the replacement voice says the same with almost mock surprise.

Sorry to be so negative, I just don't want you to waste your money.
On a more positive note. Jones is a tremendous box-fighter. The best highlights of his fights can be viewed for free by searching 'Roy Jones' in YouTube or on google video.
His entire fights can be purchased from private sellers in the Trade magazines (Boxing Monthly etc). [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome. Buy it!, 16 Nov 2001
I have never bothered to write a review for Amazon. However, after reading some of the trash reviews by others; I felt compelled to do so. The archive footage is fantastic. However, the tape will be far more valuable to an aspiring fighter; amateur or Pro. Marciano is the ultimate role model. His training, pre-historic in it's simplicity was designed to punish and submerge the body, until all traces of flab and gentleness had been exorcised. The tape depicts Marciano as a bowl of granite who would not allow the concept of defeat to enter his mind. Buy the tape and watch him destroy Louis, Walcott, Charles and other fighters who could themselves be considered great in their own right. Inspirational footage! I watch the tape before and after my roadwork.
