2.0 out of 5 stars The man with my name..., 8 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The only movie in which Frank Sinatra plays me! So, I just had to have it in my collection. This Olive Films Blu-ray release is region free, like Assault on a Queen and presumably their other releases from the Paramount back catalogue. The movie itself is no great shakes, Sinatra is plainly too old for his part and Lee J. Cobb, playing his father, was only 4 years older! It is also strange that a painfully stereotypical Jewish family should have an anglo saxon name. Very little effort has been made to open out the stage origins, but Sinatra's bachelor pad is fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good location adventure, 26 Mar 2011

As with all Warner Archive titles, the Amazon product details are wrong. This is 2.55:1, not 1.77. Good anamorphic transfer and region free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good set of Doris Day movies, 26 Mar 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Uk buyers note that like most Warner Home Video region 1 releases, these will play on any machine. I already had Tea for Two and April in Paris on R2 discs, but the transfers in this set are far superior. "The Tunnel of Love" is an excellent 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gleaming 50's CinemaScope, 26 Mar 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Never mind poor old Joan, these are five rarely seen mid 50's CinemaScope films given beautiful pin sharp anamorphic widecreen transfers. Not all great movies but a treat to look at.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality set, 26 Mar 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a collection of not very good movies, with poor quality transfers mostly in the wrong aspect ratio. Will DVD publishers please note that 4x3 ceased to be a cinema presentation ratio after 1953/4. Films after that date in this set should be 1.75:1

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap is the word, 26 Mar 2011
This review is from: Cary Grant Box Set [DVD] (DVD)
A lot of movies for the money, but sadly the usual Universal no expense incurred presentation. No digital restoration here and the two 'Scope movies are a disgrace. "The Grass is Greener" looks like it was mastered from VHS in non anamorphic letterbox, while "That Touch of Mink" is a ghastly pan and scan job in spite of the sleeve claiming it's 2.35:1.
