Price: £25.00

5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFULLY USEFUL COMPENDIUM OF DESSERTS FROM THE SOUTH OF ITALY, 25 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an excellent book covering regional desserts and from the south of Italy they are some of the most delicious imaginable. The book is very well written by Rosetta Costantino and there is a sort of companion book written by her that is well worth getting.
Any one buying this will not be disappointed, it is probably the only book available dedicated to the desserts of the southern Italian regions.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN EXCEPTIONAL BOOK AND A MUST HAVE FOR FOLLOWERS OF TURKISH CUISINE, 25 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a must have recipe book very much like Anatolia and any serious cook would adore this, not only well written but accompanied with exceptional photography.
No one will be disappointed buying this, the only downside is that for most people the book became so desirous that it sold out and if you want to get a copy now it's going top cost you serious money even the paperback is expensive, I'm lucky, I got my new copy when it came out!
Try and find it, it is a superlative book that will enable you to present authentic Turkish cuisine to your guests.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE BOOK FOR ALL SERIOUS COOKS, 25 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Anatolia (Hardcover)
A truly wonderful book that offers the best of regional Turkish cuisine. It is possibly the only book you will need and covers virtually all the most famous recipes you would ever be likely to hear about or come across.
It is well written with exceptional accompanying photography and the book is a delight to go through. No one would be disappointed or feel short changed buying this and it's interesting and delicious recipes once tried, would soon become a regular item in your kitchen.
The one exception is the topic covering Kaymak (A thick creamy yogurt made from buffalo milk ) particularly the most famous Kaymak made by Pando, unfortunately in the time it took the author to write his copy, print and launch this book, Pando's no longer exists, the lease expired and the area was wanted for development and Pando at 90 years old has retired, so anyone reading this particular article and making a beeline for Pando's when next in Istanbul will be disappointed!
Apart from that, this is a must have book for anyone really interested in cooking and will become one of your most often used resource for creating fascinating recipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN EXCELLENT & INTERESTING STUDY OF THE TRULY SUPER-RICH, 1 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the definitive book about how the other half live! An aristocratic girl marries a car manufacturing tycoon and they live happily ever after.
This is a real fairy story about the richest, most privileged people imaginable, personal friends of Kings, Queens, Presidents and Heads of State around the world and with homes in the cities that reads like a perfume or fashion house - Milan, London, Rome, Paris, New York, etc.

It is a fascinating account of the heyday of the jet set, interestingly written with excellent photography ( no faded out of focus instamatic pics here ) These people always have excellent photographs taken often shot by world famous photographers or are good themselves having been taught by the best.

Beautifully presented by Rizzoli ( who else would print a deluxe book like this! ) This is a true coffee table book that offers a " flick through" insight into the wonderful homes a member of the super rich club have and an account of their lifestyle, not on a daily basis but hints of where they were, where they bought properties and the people they mixed with. This isn't just a 'flick through' it also has a most intelligent editorial account which makes for an informative read.

Actually, this is a great book, there are some really very good reference photographs, it's all very pretty, pretty and if you are interested in this kind of era then this really is very good material.

5.0 out of 5 stars A TRULY GREAT BOOK WELL WORTH BUYING, 12 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book was purchased after returning from a ten day trip to Istanbul. Whilst there, like most tourists, a trip to the spice market was on the agenda and I purchased several particular spices used in general Turkish cuisine realising that I wanted to replicate several of the delicious meals eaten in and around Istanbul.
This book is really excellent and along with the many realistic recipes contained within, there are a great many location pictures showing a lot of places where we had eaten some perfect meals, these photographs help flood back the memories.
This book does not disappoint, it gives an insight in all the methodology behind Turkish food as well as particular herbs and spices used. It really is a great book and this has become a number one in my kitchen. The recipes are not difficult, most are extremely easy to follow and produce and the replication is made easier because there are so many Turkish shops in the UK that one can buy the correct ingredients.
I have rated this book five star and I encourage any prospective purchaser to have NO doubts, this is a truly great book that you will use.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE BEST CURRY BOOK EVER PRINTED, 3 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is probably the best curry book that has ever been in print, I first bought it when it was originally published 20 years or so ago and so I thought I would get a replacement copy such is the sheer quality of this book, it really is quite inspirational and most of the recipes i have cooked over the years. The magnificent photography immediately makes you want to start cooking.
I have been able to lay on a feast that even my Indians friends have been wowed by!
Get this book whilst it is still available in hardback, it is absolutely paramount that you get the hardback copy as you will use it so often that if you opt for the paperback version it will simply drop to bits in no time through use!

This was such an interesting read it inspired me to get the the newly published book Turquerie. The photography is excellent and for such a compact little tome it has enough information to brief you about Imperial Turkey.
If you are not sure about the fascinating history of this remarkable country then this little book is where you should start.

I find her a truly inspirational cook and have over the years made many of her dishes and at least one day a week I use one of her recipes.
this is a must have volume for any serious cook who loves the Mediterranean style of food.
