3.0 out of 5 stars Children too perfect to be real, 10 May 2016

This review is from: Summer Shadows (Kindle Edition)
Julia Lamontaigne becomes the legal guardian of her two nephews and niece, who are emotionally disturbed by the death of their parents. Money is tight, so Julia takes them away from the expensive to run house they live in, to a house in Franklin for the summer, which their parents owned but had not renovated. Here they begin to heal, but adventure is just around the corner as they get caught up in a twenty year old murder.

I did enjoy this story, although I did find it slow in parts. The three children were just too too perfect for me. For children so young ( the youngest was three years old) there were no tantrums, arguments, defiance; but perfectly behaved, well organised, helpful children who happily helped to clean, dust, paint walls, go to bed when told and cook, as young as they were. They just slotted nicely in - just not real!

The editing needs more work as it was irritating to read words typed into the wrong place in a sentence or 'Office' instead of 'Officer.' Overall though, fairly enjoyable.

Any lover of Egyptian history would love this story as it is steeped in factual description throughout, even though the story is fictional. At times though, I felt that these descriptions halted the storyline slightly and the amount of characters took some remembering.
There are many characters, Nephret, the heiress to the throne and King Aha, her father. Ramose, the High Priest of Ptah, Tasar, the priest, the generals of the army, personal slaves and priests in their temples, plus many more.
The basic storyline tells of Nephret and her love for Tasar, a plot by the Grand Vizier to become king himself, approaching war and final battle between King Aha's army (pre times of the pyramids) and the land of Kush and the aftermath of all. It is hard to say who the main characters are in the story, there are so many, all interwoven together, but each is necessary to carry the story forward.

I have read each of Steve Robinson's books as they have been written and published and I have to say this was his best ever. The fast pace, excellent plot and good characters plus the neat twist at the end made for exciting reading.
Jefferson Tate, genealogist, finally gets to track down his own family. The journey leads him to Munich, where events get out of hand. Thank you Steve for another successful story. May you not be too long with the next.

The Man His Father Was: A Novel of Early America

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 22 April 2016
Anyone interested in researching their own family tree would, I believe, enjoy this story. Pat Leonard has certainly put an awful lot of effort into his. Not only has he obviously researched the family in great detail, but he has cleverly woven them into a story where they have an interaction with the times they lived through, meeting with such major characters as Benjamin Franklin, Ben Adams, George Washington, Weequehela, Annis Boudinot Stockton and others.
It is the story of early America, beginning with the first colonies and the death of Henry Leonard in 1695, ending with John Leonard in 1863. Each of the author's mainline ancestors tell their own story and adds a little more to some of the events of early America. All of the characters are factual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Colour, 5 April 2016

This product was £3 cheaper than in my local beauty salon so definitely worth buying. It has a mild fluorescent like quality to it and is a stunning colour. My first application lasted only 2 days before beginning to chip, but applications since have lasted a whole week. It obviously depends on what you are doing with your hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing change to read about 'Little known' characters, 14 Mar. 2016
This review is from: To Be A Queen (Kindle Edition)
A superb book which I found hard to put down; it kept me engrossed as I followed the little known story of King Alfred the Great' s daughter, Aethelflaed. The story takes you from Aethelflaed' s fear of Viking raids when she is a young child, through her marriage to Ethelred, Lord of Mercia to her fulfilling the role of respected and honoured leader of the Mercians, in Dark Age England. The characters met along the way, while vital to the story, do not detract from the main characters of Aethelflaed, her brother Edward and her husband Ehthelred, but bring with them the means of visualising the way of life for people back then who had to alternate their daily life with fighting Viking raiders (as well as other tribes). It shows their fears, losses and triumphs and the continuous hard work these people had just to survive.
Beautifully Written, with some wonderful, descriptive phrases, it mixed fact with fiction exceedingly well. It was so refreshing to read about this little known woman ( I had never heard of her) and the time she lived in, compared to the oh so many books about Henry VIII and his time, which are done to death! I shall certainly look out for more books by Annie Whitehead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely gown, but keeps slipping, 3 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A welcome addition to Brbie' s wardrobe. Long and floaty, my 4 year old granddaughter' s favourite. However as the material has a lot of 'give' in it the Velcro at the back does not keep the gown up, no matter how tight you fasten it. I have turned it into a little halter neck with ribbon sewed to bodice. The only negative now is that my granddaughter has to have help to tie it.

The picture shows 3 lovely, sparkly evening wear dresses which is what I wanted for my 3 year old granddaughter. However I got a pack of day wear. Yet all the illustrations on the back of the pack show evening wear. The product description is very misleading. 'Picked at random' lead me to believe there would be at least a mixture with some sparkles! Surely a seller could allow a choice to be made, but no, so be careful. On contacting the seller I was given the address to return the item, but no return label, so I would have to pay for the privilege of getting a refund.
Edit - since my review I have received a returns label from the company.
