This review is from: Cravat-A-licious (Paperback)
The book arrived promptly and in good quality - but the book itself is rather... disappointing.

This book is in large print - that is to say all of the font is really big. Its also all printed on plain paper, there's no artwork, or pictures, or formatting of any description. Its a shame, because the book is actually a good read, it just has a horribly unfinished feel, as if someone has taken Preston's notes and photocopied them.

Not really the nice present I was thinking I was buying for my mum for Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smashing little case, 27 Oct 2012

This is a great case for the price. Its well made and fits the nexus 7 pretty much perfectly. What's refreshing about this case is that, unlike other cases on the market for the nexus 7, the auto sleep magnet does not put your tablet into sleep mode when you fold the case behind it. It only enters sleep mode when you close the case.

The stylus works well and I'm sure the screen protector that comes in the bundle is also good (although I've been too lazy to attempt attaching it to my screen)

Arrived 1 day late, however I was informed of this and was refunded my postage and packing.

My mum was more than pleased when it arrived (birthday gift), the colour is pretty much what they show in the picture - a a vibrant light (not pale) blue. Stones are a good size for the price too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great (with friends), 17 April 2012
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
The game has 'The Wolfpack' - an elite group of Umbrella special operatives - bop around raccoon city. It starts with the initial outbreak of the virus, and throughout the game you're basically visiting memorable scenes from the first few games, destroying any evidence of umbrella's involvement. Characters we all know and love make cameos and returns, including HUNK, Leon, Claire, Ada, etc. Throughout the game you fight a variety of different things (zombies, bio-weapons, soldiers, even the survivors of the outbreak that may know of umbrellas involvement)

I would just like to make this clear, this isnt a game for any diehard fans of the resident evil lore or anyone who likes their games with a bit of narrative. The story is paper thin - a mere vehicle to get you from zombie infested room A to hunter infested room B to boss fight C and so on. This is why I personally feel that this is a game best enjoyed with friends. There's no real mucking about with plot exposition, its all about the action and the combat (and the laughs when you get utterly destroyed on Professional difficulty). The characters (even the ones established in previous games) say practically nothing in this game, and we learn nothing about them. Command radios in "we need you to do X" and you trundle off to do X.

The combat, for the most part, feels very fluid and well done. As previously stated there are a decent variety of monsters (enough to keep things fresh) and a large wealth of weapons and skills to use to kill said monsters. There are 6 characters, who all have their own skills that compliment the team to a degree - a medic who can reduce incoming damage, cure infections, etc ; a scientist who is able to control zombies ; a soldier who can activate fire bullets ; and so on. Pretty standard stuff. It is worth mentioning however, that the cover system is laughably bad. Its activated by waking up to something you want to hide behind, so it can be quite jarring when you accidentally stick to walls. Some things, despite looking ideal to hide behind, wont let you take cover. Sometimes, you cant shoot out of cover, and sometimes enemies will be able to kill you regardless of what you hide behind. Also, unless you're a crack shot, be prepared to unload entire clips into things, ESPECIALLY the soldiers. On normal they take around 4 shots from the most powerful shotgun to kill (point blank). Even aiming for the head, you will still be constantly out of ammo. The game does give you plenty of it throughout the stage though, so running out isn't that much of a problem.

4 of these characters go through the game (you and three computers), and these computers can be replaced by friends at any point in the game. So called "hop-in-hop-out" co-op. A word of advice, the games AI for the team-mates is a bit naff. They do silly things sometimes, therefore bringing your friends along for the ride improves the game in that regard.

The storyline is around 4 hours long on normal, about 5-6 on professional (recommended you do normal first to unlock your weapons and abilities, they're unlocked via gaining experience at the end of each level). Theres also a free DLC mission available to anyone who has xbox live to pad the game out abit, but its still a little short.

Multiplayer. This is interesting, there's about 8 maps and 4 game modes (at the moment) and it sets the wolfpack against government operatives in 4v4 matches. While you duke it out with the other team, you also have to deal with the zombies that infest the level too. Your weapons and abilities carry over to the multiplayer, and any exp you earn there can be taken back to the campaign. the game modes are: a variant of team deathmatch, where the aim is to kill as many things (zombies and the enemy team) before the time is up; a capture the flag mode, with 1 flag in the middle (when you grab it, all the zombies in the stage rush to you); an 'extraction' mode, where you have to battle the enemy team until the chopper arrives. theres only 4 seats, and it becomes a free for all to try and get in there; finally 'heroes' mode. you only get 1 respawn, and you play as characters from the resident evil universe (goodies can pick from the likes of Leon and Jill, baddies can pick from people like HUNK and a villain from this games story) everyone gets allot of life, and the aim is to slowly whittle the enemy team down.

In summary, it really feels like this game was designed around co-op. If anyone has played borderlands or dead island, you'll know what I mean - practically no story whatsoever, but the main focus being a fun combat system and team mechanics that have you require the help of your buddies to overcome the big bad. Single player isnt bad, but it feels severely lacking when you're alone (i would rate single player a 2/5). I would also recommend those games over this, but raccoon city is 'ok' as it is.

Did everything I wanted it too, produces a crisp image and even outputs at 1920x1080, which was a nice little surprise. Also, as both sides are male, there's no need for all this messing about with male to female adapters, plug one end into your monitor, t'other into your pc and you're away.

3.0 out of 5 stars Naff, but cheep..., 1 Dec 2011

I found this cable to produce a fuzzy picture, in a naff resolution with this faint static noise in the background. Bought a more expensive cable, solved all the problems. However, I realise you get what you pay for, and this is the best vga-vga cable you're going to find for 80 of the Queens English Pence. I bought this cable purely as a test to see whether my led telly would accept a vga signal, and in that regard it preformed wonderful. In any case, its so cheep that if you do get a dud cable then its not the end of the world.
